Free HRT scheme starting June 1st 2025

We are delighted to share that from June 1st 2025 Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) will be free under the National scheme!

Who qualifies?

GMS (medical card) patients - are fully covered

DPS (Drugs Payment Scheme) - patients are fully covered

Private patients - to benefit from the free HRT scheme private patients must be registered with the Drugs Payment Scheme (DPS).
If you are not yet signed up, we strongly advise you to do so, to avail of free HRT medicines.

You can apply for the Drugs Payment Scheme online at www.mymedicalcard.ie or by contacting your local pharmacy or GP for help.

- those aged 70-79 yrs who did not receive a Covid vaccine in the preceding 12 months

- those aged 18 yrs and above living in long term care facilities for older adults

- those aged 6 months and older with immunocompromise associated with a suboptimal response to vaccination
