Clear skies and sunshine made for the perfect excuse to head outdoors here at Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork

A few of the residents and staff made the most of the gorgeous weather this week, enjoying the warmth, the fresh air, and the sound of birds singing all around us. It was one of those simple but really special moments.

Hannah (pictured) spotted a whole patch of daisies and had the lovely idea of making a daisy chain… so that’s exactly what we did. Before long, there was laughter, chatting, and more than one daisy chain made 🌼

It’s amazing how something as simple as flowers can bring back memories and spark joy.

National Pyjama Day at Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork 🥰

Yesterday was all about comfort, cosy vibes, and plenty of smiles for our “Wear Your Pyjamas to Work Day” 👏😍💛

Staff and residents fully embraced the fun, spending the day in their comfiest PJs and enjoying a relaxed, happy atmosphere together 😊

We were also thrilled to welcome a very special guest… 🐶💙 Miller the Therapy Dog. He joined in the celebrations in true style, wrapped up in his very own cosy blanket — absolutely stealing the show 🐕 Our Residents love Miller 🐕

There was plenty happening here in Bishopscourt yesterday! 😊

We were delighted to welcome Gráinne, our wonderful hairdresser, who had everyone looking and feeling their best. 💇‍♀️ The mobile library also paid us a visit, giving residents the chance to browse, pick out new reads, and enjoy a quiet moment with a good book. 📚

Our arts and crafts session was full of creativity, colour, and great conversation as always 🎨

And sometimes, it’s the little moments that mean the most… One of our residents spotted the beautiful tree outside our main entrance while heading to the library and asked for a photo, a lovely reminder to pause and appreciate the beauty all around us 🌳

The team here in Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork is holding a Pyjama Day next Wednesday, 15th April. We are not fundraising this time just celebrating National Pyjama Day on the 16th. Family and friends are most welcome to join in the fun.

🐣 Easter Fun at Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork 🐣

Our team had a fantastic time celebrating Easter with a fun and interactive Staff Easter Egg Hunt🥚🔍

Staff picked a question card and had to put their thinking caps on 🧠 to figure out where their egg was hidden — with clues based on everyday life around the nursing home. From policies 📋 to fire safety 🔥🚒, it was a great mix of fun, teamwork, and a little learning too 👏

A big well done to our wonderful Household Co-Ordinator Anette and Activities Co-Ordinator Yvonne for organising such a creative and enjoyable activity 👏💛 It was a brilliant way to bring everyone together and share lots of laughs along the way 😄

Last Friday, Grace Healthcare Ireland hosted a fun and engaging 'virtual' mega quiz involving all 10 of its nursing homes — including ours 👏👏

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed taking part. The quiz was led by Kevin, Activities Coordinator Lead, who did a fantastic job as quiz master and kept everyone entertained throughout.

We are delighted to share that Bishopscourt Nursing Home placed joint second (alongside three others), winning a lovely sweet hamper for both staff and residents.

The event was a great success, with residents fully engaged and having plenty of laughs along the way — especially during the question about Daniel O’Donnell, which was a highlight for our very own superfan, Maggie 👏

There’s nothing like a little music and creativity to brighten the day at Bishopscourt 🎨🎶

Eileen was in the middle of painting when she suddenly burst into song (Paint on hands and all… we love it😊)

And Esther couldn’t resist the sound of ABBA this morning during our cuppa and chat, up she jumped, singing and dancing along 💃

🍴 Culinary Excellence Across Grace Healthcare Ireland Nursing Homes - of which Bishopscourt is one

On Thursday 12th March, Executive Chef Jose 👨‍🍳 brought together the talented chefs from all 10 Grace Healthcare Ireland homes 🏥 for an inspiring Culinary Day at Blenders Development Kitchen in Tallaght.

🔹 The day kicked off with a tour of Blenders’ production unit 🏭 — seeing how their sauces and condiments are made.
🔹 Chef Paul Bloxham, Culinary Director at Avendra International 🌍, shared insights on culinary trends, sustainability 🌱, and menu planning.
🔹 Chef Ronan Fox gave creative ideas on reducing food waste ♻️.
🔹 Chef Jose highlighted the philosophy behind Grace Healthcare’s catering approach ❤️.

🥘 The grand finale? A friendly cooking competition using Eat Curious products 🥦 — where creativity and collaboration were the main ingredients 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

🍀 Looking Back at Our St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations 🍀 in Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork where our residents got into the festive spirit, donning St. Patrick’s Day hats and enjoying the celebrations. 🎩💚

A huge thank you to the amazing Irish Weavers, Dan and Liam, for filling the day with beautiful music and cheer — their performance had everyone tapping their feet and singing along 🎶

As you can see from the photos, our residents had an absolutely fantastic time celebrating together. 💛

A Very Special Paddy’s Day Visitor at Bishopscourt 🐶☘️

We had a paws-itively wonderful visit from Miller the dog this St. Patrick’s Day💚

Dressed in his festive colours, Miller brought plenty of smiles and cheer to everyone he met. As you can see, our residents absolutely love his visits… and we think some of the staff might too! 😊🐾

Moments like these truly brighten the day and bring so much joy to our home. 💚

Happy St Patrick’s day from us all in Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork

Here we were playing bingo as Gaeilge, as you can imagine it was a lot of fun doing this during Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Well done to all & especially one of our staff members Vanesa from Albania, who tried her hand at pronouncing some of the bingo numbers in Irish ☘️ and done very well 👏👏

We also counted as gaeilge for our daily exercises. 💪☘️☘️☘️

☕🍰 “The posh cups were out!” Afternoon Tea in Bishopscourt Nursing Home, Cork 🍰☕

On Friday, our residents enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea- an early celebration of Mother’s Day, complete with homemade scones and cakes prepared by our talented chef. 😋

As one resident joyfully remarked: “The posh cups are out!” — and it truly was a fabulous afternoon of treats, chats and fun.

At Bishopscourt, we celebrate all ladies on Mother’s Day, whether mothers, grandmothers, or special women in our lives. 🌷

A big thank you to our amazing team for making the afternoon so memorable
