2025 recap 🎶

As we finish the first week of work in 2026 I have been reminiscing on all the wonderful people I met in 2025. It’s been such a pleasure to work in so many different facilities. I just want to say thank you to all of the social workers, teachers, SNAs, youth workers, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and all other staff that I have collaborated with during the year. A big thank you to anyone who performed at the charity concert and to those who donated. Your kindness was so appreciated. Lastly a big thank you to my clients/service users. I can’t wait to see what 2026 holds for us 🎶🎹🎤🎸🎧

Ever wondered what a music therapy session looks like? 🧐🎶

We wouldn’t be able to show you in one picture. Music therapy sessions look different depending on the client because the therapy is individualised — it’s tailored to each person’s needs, goals, preferences, and circumstances.

At Echo Music Therapy we use all genres of music to achieve a clients goals, from classical to rock to electronic to rap etc. Sessions are always person-centred to make them motivating and meaningful.

In short, music therapy is not ‘one-size-fits-all’. It’s a flexible, responsive process where the music, methods, and goals are shaped around the person - not the other way around.

It was such a privilege to meet the amazing Badjao Tribe. They are a remarkable community full of the kindest, hardest working and strongest people I’ve ever met. They are so driven while always prioritising the greater good of their community. A community which is rich in their unique culture. A lot can be learned from this wonderful group of people. They are resilient despite facing challenges. The tribes collective strength is beautiful. They are selfless. They care for everyone in their community. They share responsibility for the greater good of their community and work together through collective action and mutual accountability. They look out for each other and share skills to better each other. Their focus is on group progression and never individual advancement. All done with a friendly smile on their face. Thank you for inviting me into your community. It was such a wonderful experience and a privilege to meet you. You’re more remarkable than you’ll ever know.

Such a pleasure to deliver a series of teacher training workshops to the amazing teachers from the Nano Nagle Learning Centre Cebu and the novice Presentation Sisters. The lectures focused on ‘music techniques that promote the learning of life skills’ and ‘child friendly techniques for regulating emotions (grounding techniques)’ 🇵🇭🎶📝

One week finished in Cebu already. It has been such a pleasure to meet the Badjao tribe and everyone in the Nano Nagle Learning Centre. Thank you so much for having us! Tomorrow I will be flying out to the Philippines to spend the next month working with children and young adults from the Badjao Tribe. I am so excited for this opportunity and can’t wait to finally meet the young people and the partners in the Nano Nagle Learning Centre.

Today in Bunscoil Ris we had our goodbye/album launch parties and some last minute inspiration 🗣️🎙️

It is such a pleasure to get to work with the students in Bunscoil Ris. I already can’t wait to meet the new 3rd class students in September. Best of luck to the 6th class students finishing up with us this year. We will all think back on these projects with the fondest memories 🎶🎹🎤

What a lovely morning we had in at the Pod album launch! These students have been working hard all year writing lyrics, composing melodies, recording with the professional microphones, editing and designing album cover art. It was brilliant to be able to showcase their hard work today to the staff, other students and principals in the Abbey. Thank you to all who attended. They all stood up and spoke about their piece in front of the audience like pros! They should be so proud of themselves. Already looking forward to seeing what they create in the next academic year. 🎶🎹🎤🎸

Preparations are underway for the annual Pod Album Launch in ! The students have been working all year coming up with ideas, composing, recording, producing, designing album artwork and even designing invites for their teachers/SNAs/principals.

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of visiting the Catherine McAuley Junior School along with some students I’ve been working with in Bunscoil Rís Edmund Rice Senior School.

These wonderful students in the Senior School had written a beautiful short story that was full of life lessons. The story was accompanied by music composed and recorded completely by the students.

It was so lovely they decided to share it with students in the junior school. The Junior School students then had the opportunity to ask them questions about how they wrote it. They were amazed at what can be accomplished when you believe in your own abilities. It was a brilliant day for all. 🎶🎹🎤🎸
