So long, July and hellooo August 🌞.
This is the time when most of the summer is over , but it's not quite autumn.
After the quick pace of summer, August offers a chance to slow down, rest, and rejuvenate body and soul.
It's a time to prioritise self-care and replenish our energy for the months to come.
Have a wonderful August.

Good evening,
Does this sound familiar?
When we have problems with sleep, going to bed can be a bit of a challenge.
Lack of sleep is no laughing matter, so here's a little bit of info that I found really useful.
The amygdala is the part of our brain essential for processing fear and other emotions, triggering the body for fight or flight response in dangerous situations.
That's helpful.
But here's the thing:
It is also millions of years old .
So when we worry a lot ( who doesn't at times), it can be about issues like relationships, jobs, finances etc. The signal the amygdala gets, however, is " danger" l.
And so, our brain feels it's not safe to sleep, and often we wake up in the middle of the night 😴.
Sleep tight ♥️

Good morning ☀️. How did you sleep?

Sleep ( or lack of) is a big issue for many of us, and if we are finding it hard to get a proper night's sleep, it has serious effects on all parts of our physical and mental health.
Here's a couple of interesting facts:
🧠 even after decades of research, the exact reason why we sleep remains a mystery!!
🧠 sleep is incredibly complex and has effects on virtually all systems of the body
🧠 some brain parts included in making us sleep are the hypothalamus, pineal gland ( melatonin production), brain stem, cerebral cortex, and amygdala.

Reflexology is proven to help better sleep. Not only is it incredibly relaxing, but it can work on the reflexes corresponding to the mentioned parts of the brain.

Hi,
It's worth mentioning that today is Awareness day.
They are there, as they say, for the" quiet moments of human struggles" and with one phone call every minute, it's safe to say we all experience them!
They are open 24/7 and it's wonderful to have them.
Take care ❤️ Gisela

Lie back.
Breathe deep.
Let go.
There is something special about the stillness that reflexology brings.
I'm here to help you find it. ♥️

Hi everyone ,
A lot of you already know me, but with a good bit of new followers joining recently ( thank you 😊), I figured it's a good moment to say hello again and share a bit about myself.
My name is Gisela, and I am a holistic therapist mainly doing reflexology treatments. I've been working for ten years now, mostly from my studio in Waterford city.
I've also worked with Focus Ireland, the Brothers of Charity, and recently, as a therapist for Waterford hospice.
I am passionate about reflexology as its one of very few treatments where the entire body can be accessed ( through the feet) without touching any area of pain or discomfort.
We work from the inside, and reflexology can provide deep relaxation, pain relief, and emotional support.
It can ease anxiety and stress and aid digestion.
What you can expect from your first and every other session is a consultation to see where you are right now and then tailor your session to your benefit.
You can contact me for further information or better still, book a treatment 👣🌞.

Today I had another client for a reflexology session where I incorporated techniques I recently learned from .
They felt fabulous afterwards!
I'm only starting, and there is so much to learn yet, but over the next while, I'd love to tell you a bit more about what makes this so different.
Let's start at the beginning. The basis of all body therapies is touch and how important it is ( and healing).
If this is true, then it's vital HOW your feet are held and touched because that, for Chi medics is how we touch and support you.
And because we know that reflexology is based on the premises that our feet reflect the human, it's absolutely essential to become conscious as a therapist how to hold the feet.
I have already learned so much, and this makes so much sense to me!!

I have recently joined the " Healthy Waterford " network.
As a sole trader of a small business, it's really informative and beneficial to collaborate with others - individuals and corporations!
There's a lot going on to make Waterford more healthy, and it's very encouraging to see.
Enjoy the beautiful evening ♥️

Good evening 💛
A bit later than promised, here's the reason and big bonus of little " pauses" in your treatment after working each reflex:
⏯️ reflexology is gentle but powerful and there are a lot of messages sent between body and brain
⏯️ " the space in between " is short - mostly 2 of your out breaths - but creates a healing space so your body is not overwhelmed
⏯️ it allows the brain to receive the messages and see it as non-threatening
⏯️ it allows your body then to release anything it needs to
And the best thing ? All of this happens while you are blissful relaxing 👣👣

When was the last time you pressed " Pause " on your life?
We all have these busy lives, yet if there is a little gap, many of us grab the phone, scroll, listen to podcasts, watch...there's never a break. The consequences? Our mind and bodies are overwhelmed, and we get ill.
Here are some benefits of pausing :
⏯️ clarity - when you listen to someone and let it sink in, communication is much more effective
⏯️ mental rejuvenation- pauses allow for breaks, preventing burnout and improving our focus
⏯️ stress reduction- taking breaks can help manage stress and promote relaxation
⏯️ importantly, create a deeper connection with ourselves.
Tomorrow, I tell you why small pauses during your reflexology treatment are sooo helpful and work magic .
Love ❤️ Gisela
