Westport Community First Responders

Westport Community First Responders Westport Cardiac First Responders are a group of local trained volunteers who will respond to cardiac emergency calls alongside the National Ambulance Service.

A Cardiac First Responder (CFR) is a person trained to a minimum level of basic life support in CPR and the use of an AED/defibrillator, who attends an actual or potentially life threatening emergency such as a cardiac arrest, heart attack, stroke or choking.

�Our CFR group was established in November 19.
�We, like everyone got stopped with Covid March 20
�We returned to active training in April

2021
�We went live August 2021 (dispatched by National Ambulance Service (NAS) to cardiac incidents in westport)
��We have CPR live saving Training every month since we went live

On Saturday we got the opportunity to run a CFR course where 6 new Community First Responders were successful in becoming part of the network. Thanks to our instructor Caroline King and to Joe and Brittany from Westport Community First Responders and to Michael, Rita. Breda and Heidi of the newly formed Newport Community first Responders who will go live with the national ambulance service in the near future. 📣 Defibrillator Update

Our defibrillator has a new home – it’s now located just inside the main gate on the right, beside the coffee trailer.

If it’s ever used, please make sure to let a club officer know.

We would encourage anyone free in Newport and surrounding areas this evening to attend this vital information evening where a number of local volunteers are looking to setup a Community First Responder group. Its happening in Hotel Newport at 1930. Best of luck to everyone.

We were delighted once again to be supported by the community of Islandeady where we were presented with a cheque from Seamus, Christina Moylette and family from the proceeds of the Dara Moylette Pool Competition held in the Key West Bar recently. Thanks to everyone for their continued support.

We are delighted to be involved in this fantastic initiative. John Moore (Zulu) passed away suddenly in January 2023. His wife Nora, daughter Patricia and extended family has raised funds to purchased a number of public access AED's to be placed along the Great Western Greenway Cycling & Walking Trail in memory of Zulu.

We are delighted to announce the 3rd and 4th one has gone live and available to use should they be needed.

The third one is located at the entrance of John Malee's. Eircode F28 W9T3 pictured below.

The fourth one has gone a little further down to Newport just off the greenway in Acres Grove Eircode F28 X577 also pictured below.

These are in addition to
Midwest Furniture F28 VW64 and
Michael McLoughlins F28 FW77

We are looking for a few more locations to place Public access Defibrillators along the greenway from Westport to Newport. If anyone is interested in placing an AED box on their property please message our page and we will contact you to dicuss.

We are delighted to be involved in this fantastic initiative. John Moore (Zulu) passed away suddenly in January 2023.
