Westport Community First Responders

Westport Community First Responders Westport Cardiac First Responders are a group of local trained volunteers who will respond to cardiac emergency calls alongside the National Ambulance Service.

A Cardiac First Responder (CFR) is a person trained to a minimum level of basic life support in CPR and the use of an AED/defibrillator, who attends an actual or potentially life threatening emergency such as a cardiac arrest, heart attack, stroke or choking.

�Our CFR group was established in November 19.
�We, like everyone got stopped with Covid March 20
�We returned to active training in April 2021
�We went live August 2021 (dispatched by National Ambulance Service (NAS) to cardiac incidents in westport)
��We have CPR live saving Training every month since we went live

CPR saves lives. We want to help save more hearts in westport in 2022. Stay tuned here to hear how you can help us help the community �

Well done to the 5 participants from the Fahy area who gave their Monday evening up to attend CPR training. Thanks to Maggie at Fahy Rovers Afc and to Emilie and the committee at Fahy Centre for helping us and allowing us to run the session there. To date we have trained 10 locals in the Fahy community on the vital skill of CPR.

On Saturday we got the opportunity to run a CFR course where 6 new Community First Responders were successful in becoming part of the network. Thanks to our instructor Caroline King and to Joe and Brittany from Westport Community First Responders and to Michael, Rita. Breda and Heidi of the newly formed Newport Community first Responders who will go live with the national ambulance service in the near future.
