Important update 17th May 2021:

Due to the HSE cyberattack, We at Clew Bay Family Practice are experiencing delays and disruptions to normal service.

❌ Mayo University Hospital is currently unable to process any non urgent blood tests or other samples. All non urgent blood tests are cancelled until further notice.

❌ Any other services that we complete online are also severely affected eg online referrals, social welfare certs.

❌ Those who are concerned about possible COVID symptoms, or seeking a covid test can contact us in the usual way. A referral is currently not needed to attend the covid testing centre at McHale park, and they are operating a walk in service there.

❌ Patients querying hospital appointments should check HSE.ie for latest information – See https://www2.hse.ie/services/hospital-service-disruptions/hse-it-system-cyber-attack.html

❌ We have been advised that Maternity appointments are continuing as usual at the hospital.

We thank you for your patience and understanding at this time. We will update you with further information when we can.

Read updates on HSE healthcare, hospital and COVID-19 appointments following disruption due to cyber attack.

Fantastic morning vaccinating our over 85s against covid! It was a privilege and honour to provide this service as one of the first GP practices in the country to receive vaccines. Everyone done and out of stock by lunch time!
We will be moving down through the age groups every other week. There is no need to ring the surgery to book in, as we will be making contact with all eligible patients as soon as the vaccine delivery dates are available.
Hope springs eternal!

With the recent rise in covid cases, we are already very busy and we expect this to continue over the coming weeks.

🔹We will need to focus on covid care and the most urgent medical issues, if you have a routine issue (routine check up/ cholesterol check etc) we would appreciate if possible, that this could be delayed

🔹We will try to provide as much care as possible by phone or video consultation.

🔹 We cannot facilitate any walk ins.

🔹If you are a close contact of a confirmed case or have symptoms of covid-19 you should not attend the surgery without discussing this with one of our GPs first.

🔹We encourage vaccinations and antenatal appointments to proceed as normal.

🔹We are receiving a very high volume of telephone calls and we ask for patience in dealing with our staff, they work extremely hard during these challenging times.

If you think you need a doctor, please call us.
From all at Clew Bay Family Practice, we wish all our patients and friends a happy and healthy 2021

UPDATE : From today, close contacts of COVID-19 cases will not be routinely referred for testing.

❌ Close contacts are at very high risk of developing COVID-19 and it is essential that all close contacts stay at home/ restrict their movements for the full 14 days from last contact with the person with COVID. If a close contact has ongoing exposure the person with COVID-19 i.e. a family member, then the family must stay at home for 17 days.

❌ If a close contact has symptoms of COVID-19, they should treat themselves as if they have COVID-19, isolate themselves and phone their GP to arrange a test.

❌ If a close contact is unwell and needs medical assessment then they should phone their GP as they usually do and tell them that they are a close contact. They should not attend their GP in person.

Significant changes in advice to UK travellers arriving in Ireland:
Anyone who has arrived from UK mainland in the last 14 days (since December 8th) must self isolate for 14 days, contact us at the surgery on day 5 or after (regardless of having symptoms or not) and we will arrange a free covid test. They will then be advised to continue to isolate, regardless of outcome of test or previous private testing.
This applies to anyone who has arrived from UK mainland in the last 14 days, regardless of whether they have had a negative covid test, are being advised to go back into isolation for 14 days from their date of arrival here.
This is in line with new public health advice as of today.
