We will be closed Friday 6th May, Sat, Sun, Mon & Tuesday 10th May to say a heartfelt farewell & celebrate a life well lived of Mike’s wonderful Dad. Thanks so much to all those patients who moved their appointments & also for understanding that your glasses might take an extra few days. We promise to work extra hard to catch up with all the orders & messages when we’re back on Wednesday 11th May.

Happy St Patrick's Day to all our lovely patients & friends!
Thank you so much for your ongoing support. We're closed today, back as normal tomorrow. For the day that's in it, although green eyes are actually pretty rare (only around 2% of us). Enjoy!

Apologies! We are closed today because we’re well & truly snowed in! We tried very hard this morning but just couldn’t get anywhere. Huge thanks to Deirdre for putting a sign on the door for us & Russell & Margaret for pushing the car last night when we got stuck. ⛄️❄️

20/12/2020

We would like to wish all our patients a very Happy Christmas.
As always, we really appreciate all your support (more than ever this year) & look forward to seeing you in 2021!
We closed for the holidays on Friday 18th December at 9pm & we'll be back at 9.30am on Thursday 7th January.
Slightly longer than normal, but it's been a year like no other.
Keep safe,
Sarah & Mike

Our Elf on the Mall is definitely of the naughty variety! Wonderful carol singing too at 5.30pm this evening, in aid of Pieta House and Gena Heraty’s Haiti fund.

Just an 1 hour ago, we had confirmation from the Department of Health that we are an ESSENTIAL SERVICE & so we are delighted and relieved to be able to continue providing eye care for you. Further information to follow. We will continue with ALL the hygiene protocols we already have in place, full PPE, temperature checks & strict closed door policy. We really feel for those businesses which will have to close until 1st December & hope that they're reassured that they will have our support when they reopen. Lets all shop local.

As far as we understand, under the new Level 5 restrictions, Opticians have been listed as "Essential Retail for emergency services only". We will confirm exactly what services we'll be able to provide when we have more information. We're extremely grateful for your understanding.

Just as relevant today as the 19th May (when we re-opened). Please be patient if you have to queue outside or if you have to wait a few days to get an appointment with us. We also hope you understand that we cannot proceed with your eye examination if your temperature is too high.

Time for an update, as things have changed again since our last post! We are currently open:-
Tuesday (9.30am - 4pm)
Wednesday (9.30am - 4pm)
Thursday (9.30am - 4pm)
Friday (9.30am - 4pm)
It's still not business as normal...
We're always flexible, so please just ask & we will try to accommodate you. For example, we are working some Saturdays (by request) and we are nearly always around Sundays (10am-5pm) for those patients who prefer to collect glasses, contact lenses or repairs at much quieter times. The same applies to evenings (we are usually around later on Tuesdays).

The 15 minute rule has been lifted, so our routine eye examinations can resume at normal length (up to 1hr). However, all routine eye examinations & driving tests involve DILATION (drops), so you'll be unable to drive afterwards (for 6-8 hours or until their effects have worn off). Therefore, you need to allow a little longer (1 hr 15 minutes) for your examination.

If you need an eye examination, please attend on your own (or with your carer) & wear a mask or face covering. You won't be able to try frames on or have an eye examination if you're wearing a face shield.

We will take your temperature prior to your examination & you may prefer to bring your own pen (although ours are cleaned after every use). We're still wearing PPE throughout your examination & all surfaces touched/chairs & equipment are thoroughly cleaned after each patient. The same strict hygiene applies in reception and all frames touched/tried on are thoroughly cleaned after each patient.

We're still operating a CLOSED DOOR POLICY (come rain or shine!), so please knock & wait until we're able to let you in.
We're only allowed 2 people in at any one time, so please be patient and queue responsibly. We'll let you in as soon as it's safe to do so.

You should not attend if:-
You have COVID-19 symptoms (now or in the past 14 days).
You have been diagnosed with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 infection in the last 14 days.
You have been advised by your doctor to self-isolate/cocoon or you have been advised to quarantine.
You are a close contact of a person who is a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days.

We look forward to seeing you (at a safe distance) and once again, we really appreciate your support & understanding during these exceptional times. Thank you for continuing to be patient.
Stay safe. Save lives.

We have decided to continue with our revised opening hours for Phase 2. So, we are currently open:-

Tuesday (9am - 6pm)
Wed (9am - 1pm)
Thursday (9am - 1pm)
Friday (9am - 1pm)

It's very cautious & responsible because the safety, health & well being of our patients & the wider community is so very important. It's not exactly business as normal...
Outside these hours, we can always be reached on 098 27765, email ofarrellopticians@gmail.com or Facebook.
As always, we are flexible, so if you would prefer to collect your glasses, contact lenses or repairs at quieter times (evenings or Sundays), then this can be arranged. Just ask!
We're nearly always around 10-5pm on Sundays!

It's not business as normal...but we are able to offer routine eye examinations (albeit in the new way).

If you need an eye examination, please attend on your own (or with your carer) & bring a mask or face covering with you.

We will take your temperature & you may prefer to bring your own pen.

Since most tests are carried out at less than 2m, our eye examinations are now much shorter & therefore repeat visits will be needed (to complete all the necessary tests).
It’s no longer safe to carry out our ‘normal’ 30-60 minute eye examinations.

We will be wearing PPE throughout your examination & all surfaces touched/chairs & equipment used are thoroughly cleaned after each patient. Similarly, in reception, all surfaces touched, chairs & frames tried on are thoroughly cleaned after each patient.

We are continuing to limit the number of patients in the practice at any one time.

Stay safe. Save lives.
Sarah & Mike

P.S. Mike is waiting patiently for a hair cut!
