A little check-in from me

I’ve been quieter here lately. Social media has felt heavy, and after a rough few weeks I’ve needed to step back and protect my energy.

I’m still here, still supporting clients, just moving a little slower and more intentionally.

Swipe through for an update on my availability and what’s coming in the new year.

Thank you for being here and for understanding. 💞

I’ve had a few questions about Rooted in Heart, so I wanted to share a little more here.

It’s a 6-week circle for doulas and birth workers who’ve been feeling the heaviness of this work ~ the restrictions, the burnout, the holding, the heartbreak.

It’s a space to reconnect with your purpose, to feel supported, and to remember that you don’t have to carry it all alone.

There’s a special 11.11 offer open until Tuesday, November 18th, with flexible payment options to make joining easier.
And just a little note ~ there are only a few places left, as we’re keeping the group small and intimate so it feels deeply personal and connected.

If you’d like more details, send me a message or drop a 💛 below and I’ll send everything over.

With hugs,
Lorraine 🤍

There’s something powerful about being witnessed by those who truly understand this work... the beauty, the ache, and everything in between. 💖

Our Doula Circle - Rooted in Heart was created for doulas who are craving that kind of space. A space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with why they began. 💫

I'll be sending out your emails tomorrow. Make sure you're on my list for more information. 🥰

What would it feel like to be held the way you hold others?

To have a space to breathe, debrief, and come back to yourself?

You don’t need to carry this work alone.
There’s space for you here; soft, strong, and rooted in heart. 💞

This is the beginning of something for the doulas and birth workers who give so much.

If your heart or your head is nodding "yes", let me know ...

| Why are we in such a rush?

As pregnancy nears its end, something shifts.

Suddenly everyone has a tip or trick to “get things going.”
“You must be so tired now.”
“Try raspberry leaf tea!”
“Eat dates, hot curries, have acupuncture, it worked for my cousin!”

There’s this not so quiet agenda to hurry nature along.
To evict babies before they’re ready.
To push a body that’s already doing something miraculous to do it faster.

But what if we didn’t?
💫What if we stopped asking how tired someone must be feeling?
💫What if we stopped offering ways to speed things up?
💫What if we simply trusted that body, that baby, that timing?

What if we let people savour these last days,
the quiet moments of connection,
the gentle rolls and kicks,
the knowing that this chapter is closing and a new one is about to begin.

Pregnancy isn’t something to rush through.
It’s something to experience.

And sometimes, the most supportive thing we can do is to let someone simply be.

✨ Tell me, how did you feel in those final weeks of pregnancy? Were you able to slow down, or did you feel the pressure to get things moving?

Running a marathon and giving birth might seem worlds apart… but they have more in common than you’d think.

🪷Both require preparation, mindset, endurance, and surrender!!!!
🪷Both push you to your physical and emotional limits (and beyond).
🪷Both demand trust in your body, your breath, and your ability to keep going when every part of you wants to stop.

The difference?
In a marathon, you can see the finish line.
In labour, you have to believe in it because you don't how far away it is.

And yet, both lead to the same thing: TRANSFORMATION.

You don’t finish a marathon as the same person who started.
You don’t emerge from birth unchanged.

Birth is the ultimate endurance event... not one of pain. One of power, resilience, and surrender.

If you’re preparing for birth, remember: you don’t need to train harder but you do need to trust deeper. 💞

If you’d like to prepare your mind and mindset for labour and birth, I have space for 2x private workshops in late November. My workshops are proven to help you feel calm, confident, and ready for whatever your journey brings.

Send me a DM for more details. 🫶🏻

| Doulas don’t work for hospitals. We work for our clients.

I need to say this out loud because it keeps happening.

Too often, hospitals treat Doulas as if we are their staff; people they can dismiss, disregard, or “send home” at will. But here’s the truth: we are hired by families, not hospitals. We are paid professionals who bring years of knowledge, training, and lived experience to support our clients through one of the most important moments of their lives.

Very recently, while supporting a client, I was told, abruptly and unkindly, to leave the hospital once she went in for a cesarean. I had just assured her and her partner that I would be there waiting when they came out. Moments later, a manager told me to go home. No regard for the relationship I had built, no acknowledgement of the trust my clients had placed in me, no respect for the work we do.

This isn’t just about me. It’s about every family whose continuity of care is disrupted when hospitals disregard the role of their Doula. It’s about the lack of respect shown to both Doulas and the families who choose us.

Doulas are not optional extras. We are not “visitors.” We are professionals, and our presence makes a difference.

Hospitals do not have authority over independent Doulas. And treating us as though they do undermines the very people they are meant to serve ... birthing families.

Families deserve the support they’ve chosen. Full stop!!!

| I saw this today and thought ...

I saw this broken tree stump covered in moss and a fragile eggshell today and thought… this is what healing looks like.

Holding space for what’s been cracked, while new life slowly takes root.

Just like us in postpartum — tender, transforming, whole in our own time.

Each of us carries our own unique story, not to be rushed, not to be compared — only honored for the journey it is. 💞

Together, we support and uplift each other.

I trust the care, wisdom, and love that surrounds me.

Even in uncertain times, hope and connection can guide us forward.
