π³πParable Garden Education Project is delighted to collaborate with a land artist, Mayumi Nakabayashi for a special Bealtaine retreat day in the context of the Celtic festivals.
During her exploratory workshop, Mayumi will introduce ways to connect with our gut - the source of inspiration - and create land art as an ephemeral expression of our inner self. It is an opportunity to learn how our gut microbiome influences our emotional and cognitive health and bring our awareness to the connection with nature through making art with natural materials.
π³πWe will begin the day at 10 am with a presentation on Celtic spirituality and explore the role that the major seasonal thresholds played around the lives of our ancestors.
π³πParticipants will get a chance to create their own land art in our lovely woods and witness Mayumi making her land art. We will have a beautiful Westgate lunch in the serene surroundings of the walled garden.
π³π On the day Tom Gunning will introduce to us healing Taoist practices which includes meditation and Chi Kung. We will end the day with relaxing sound bath.
π³ π You can book your place by contacting Tom (0874183053) or DM. Ballinesker, Wexford Y21A6C2. 10 am to 4 pm, Cost isβ¬80.
Mayumiβs Bio:
Mayumi Nakabayashi is a Japanese land artist living in Ireland since 1999. She creates geometric patterns using natural materials. Her works are ephemeral and often site-responsive: she creates artworks that resonates with the landscapes and the weather conditions she is in, using the materials found on the spot. As well as being a solo artist, she is a community artist who visits schools and communities to create environmental arts together. Her passion lies in co-creation in all levels - with nature and with people. She has led workshops for IMMA, RTE, UCD, Creative Ireland, Mermaid Arts Centre and various arts festivals. She has exhibited at Trinity College Dublin and Nature Art de Zavelput, Belgium this year.
