How many hours a week of weight lifting do you need to commit to build muscle?

For a beginner, all you need to commit is 2 - 3 hours per week. If you commit and do it consistently with a structured and progressive programme.

- After a few months, you will see and feel changes.
- After a year you will see significant changes.
- After 2 years, you could be after completely changing your physique.

Would you build faster with doing 4 - 5 days?
- Yes, but I think most people would struggle to commit to that sustainably .

Would a good nutrition plan help?
Absolutely, but you can make significant changes also by just doing the basics well.

There's not many things you can do for 2- 3 hours a week that will give you the physical, mental and longevity benefits extra strength & muscle mass will give you. πŸ’ͺ

A little throwback post to celebrate 6 years in business πŸ₯³

6 years ago, I remember deciding to start some personal training back home for a few months prior to heading to Liverpool for a masters in Exercise Physiology.

Little did I know I'd end up postponing and eventually cancelling that move to Liverpool in favour of staying and growing the business. A decision I'm very happy I made.

The lady on the left started with me January 6 years ago πŸ₯° One of my first clients, which I'm very proud to still have coming. My mother on the right has been put through her paces by me for much longer that that πŸ˜†

In January, as we all know, there is a lot of madness in the fitness industry. I welcome it as anything that gives people the motivation to get started is a positive, in my opinion. In commercial gyms, in particular, there is a high drop-off rate by February/March.

One of the primary benefits of small group PT is the appointment based system. This adds a level of accountability that you just don't get in an open gym. Of the positive feedback I get from clients, this is one I hear time and time again. The appointment (the accountability) of being booked in and having to turn up makes a world of difference to their consistency week in/ week out, which of course leads to better results.

I'm very happy to say that many people who started with me last January and previous January's are still coming. 😊

If you've tried open gyms too many times. If you feel you need accountability, nutritional guidance and technical coaching. Give me a shout, I've a few spaces left morning and evening. πŸ’ͺ

A massive well done to on his transformation. 38.5lbs / 17.5 kg lost.

Jake started well toward the end of last year and unfortunately suffered for months with tonsillitis eventually leading to getting them out.

After a great start he was out of action for months. For most people, they'd give up after this. It was pure perseverance that got him here. He didn't let it set him back and immediately got back training and on the food plan once he was healthy.

Jake came to small group PT 3 times a week, stuck to a small daily calorie deficit focusing on getting a decent amount of protein with each meal. He got plenty of social occasions during this period of time and got back on it straight after.

"I started with Ryan back in February 2023. I had put on roughly over 2 stone during covid and decided it was time to get back into shape. I knew I didn't want an overcrowded gym and started researching. Ryan's name was recommended to me so I made contact and haven't looked back since. I wanted a smaller P/T group/Gym where I felt comfortable and where the instructor could take time to focus on a smaller group and push me when I needed to be pushed.

I would 100% recommend Ryan, the classes are flexible and always switched up to keep you motivated and interested with your training. I've lost over my target of 2 stone and I continue to focus on improving my fitness level. Always a great atmosphere and great to see new faces joining the group and achieving their fitness goals with Ryan."
