Meet Vickie Dunne, founder of Vickie Dunne Training - a Wexford based training provider specialising in health and safety and innovative learning approaches, such as Virtual Reality.

Vickie works with companies, individuals, sports clubs and charities delivering practical, confidence-building training. The core programmes include First Aid Responder and Refresher, Patient Handling, Manual Handling, BLS/CPR, Fire Safety and Fire Warden, Paediatric, Sports and Basic First Aid, and Abrasive Wheel training.

Vickie is also a Subject Matter Expert in Virtual Reality for education and training, using it as a supportive tool to help learners practice skills safely and build confidence before them in real-world settings.

Vickie has launched two new programme areas: Mental Health Awareness and Wellbeing, focusing on psychological safety and resilience, and Exploring Digital Creativity, designed to help learners build confidence with digital tools and emerging technologies.

We’re delighted to have Vickie in our Network, and we’re grateful for her work as our Events Coordinator!

Last week, I had the pleasure of delivering a talk at Clayton Liffey Valley for the (IWA) on the use of Virtual Reality (VR) as a teaching tool in education and training.

The session explored how VR can support learners in developing practical skills and building confidence, particularly in the safe administration of medication. I shared an overview of the approach, discussed the benefits and challenges of using VR in learning environments, and provided hands-on demonstrations of its practical application in real-world training contexts.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to speak with such an engaged, welcoming, and professional group of ladies from IWA. Their openness to innovative teaching methods and learner-centred approaches made the experience especially rewarding.
