How we speak to children becomes their inner voice. Let's choose more kind words.
This also applies to parents, we also should use kind words to ourselves.
Focus on the doughnut and not the hole.🍩
Look at all the amazing things you already do ❤️.

I am so passionate about being proactive in mental health and teaching children about emotions. I do wish that this was part of the school curriculum.
These groups are for 7-9 years olds to identify and understand their different emotions and how to cope and regulate themselves.
There is very limited capacity so the children can get the maximum benefits from the group.
They are run 1.5 hours over 4 consecutive weeks starting in June.
Optional parent session to support your child with emotional regulation. Which is recommended but not necessary. This would ensure your child gets the most benefit from these groups.
These groups are social, fun and educational for 7 to 9 year olds.
Week by week, we will do activities around different feelings presented in the movie "Inside out". Children will learn about their brain and body and take part in activities that help their brain and body to feel better.
This is very low level self discovery and not group therapy!
Children will also be making slime that they can bring home on the last day!
The children will also get certificates for completing all four sessions.
The parent session takes place on Saturday the 29th of June.
The children's sessions then take place starting the 6th of July consecutively which is 13th, 20th and 27th of July. From 12pm to 1.30pm.

When working with children with neurodiverse difference, we promote strengths, and we figure out gifts and talents a child has and build upon these..
Having a neurodiverse brain does come with its challenges, but let's take time to focus on strengths 💪. Such as being honest, having fantastic memory, amazing concentration and expertise on special interests..

I think we can all be guilty of carrying too much at times. Then we wonder why we are tired or burnt out.
It's time to empty the back pack!
Reflect on what feels heavy for you right now. And let it go, one piece at a time!
I was honoured to be asked to partake in the South East Disability Resource fair. Thank you to .kneaders for organising it to demonstrate what supports are available for children with disabilities, parents and carers. ❤️
As some of you know, I am currently out of work because I was involved in a road traffic accident in July 2022. Where I sustained physical and mental injuries, since then my whole life has been on pause and I have been out of work. I hope to return in the coming months 🤞🏼. I especially cannot wait to return to the wonderful world of Play Therapy and meet all the amazing little and big kiddies, parents and carers ❤️.
Until then please find other play therapists in your area on IAPTP.ie I will keep everyone updated on my return. I already have a waiting list for non urgent clients.
Best wishes,
Claudia

🌈Maternal Mental Health🌈
I really enjoyed writing this article as I feel, this topic is not addressed as much as it should be.
This is my latest feature in magazine and it is now available.
I also discuss practical ways you can be proactive in your mental health while pregnant.

Play Therapy is an age and developmentally appropriate way for children to communicate and resolve psycho-social challenges.
Play Therapy is so effective because play is a child's natural language. Children do not have the cognitive ability to express themselves the way that adults can. As a mental health practitioner I am trained to analyse, communicate and best respond to the individual child according to his/her needs.
Play Therapy is used to alleviate many children’s problems including:
Behavior problems, Loss/bereavement/separation, attachment difficulties, social and emotional issues, delayed development, depression/anxiety, Trauma and abuse.
About me:
I am a qualified Play Therapist. I am currently working from two practices one in Wicklow and one in Wexford town. I am also working towards a Masters in Child and Adolescent Creative Psychotherapy. I hold pre-accredited membership with IAPTP, which govern my ethical standards and best practice. I currently work with children from the ages of 3 to 17 using play and creative interventions to best suit the individual child. I work closely with parents in order to achieve the optimal benefits of the therapeutic intervention provided.
I am also creating and facilitating a ‘parenting through play programme’ for services in Limerick. This programme will also be available in Wexford town in the coming months.
Thank you for visiting my page and if you have any questions do not hesitate to send me a message :)
