My Journey to Yoga
Tania Murphy - Yoga Teacher & Studio Owner
Before yoga,I worked a full time desk job and ran 40km per week to stay in shape. All that sitting combined with all that running left my legs strong but my core weak; and one day, my back just gave up.
After countless visits to specialists, I was diagnosed with a bulging disc and degeneration of the spine. Surgery was not an option, so I was sent home with prescription painkillers as the proposed solution. The chronic pain led to Fibromyalgia which meant more medicines, and less quality of life.
I knew I had to find a solution for myself, and the only exercise that seemed viable was yoga. I booked myself into a weekly class and started to practice. Sometimes it wasn't easy, sometimes my back flared up, and many of the postures felt impossible. But the more I practiced, the stronger I became, the more open and less tense my body became. I felt less pain!
Thanks to yoga, my bulging disc is gone and I’m off medication. I became a certified teacher in 2016 to share this healing practice with the world, and I’ve since continued my professional studies each year and have taught for over 1,500 hours.
I also hold a Diploma in Ayurveda and Herbalism. I am a qualified Reiki Practionioner and a certified Yoga Trapeze® Teacher. I am also studying Aromatherapy, Organic Skin Care and Face Yoga.
I teach yoga because it changed my life, my focus, my self-confidence, my body and my general sense of well-being. I teach yoga because I want to share those benefits with others. I want them to feel those same benefits. I want my students to feel more focused, more mindful of their own health and well-being, to become stronger, freer, more comfortable and confident in their own bodies.
I look forward to sharing this practice with you.
Much Love & Namaste
