Having moved to Ireland in 2010, I established my own private practice in Wexford town, but have now relocated to an office in my garden near Duncormick. I am happy to see couples as well as individuals, and offer both short term and open-ended counselling. I qualified as a counsellor in the UK over 25 years ago and have worked in a variety of settings, both in the UK and in New Zealand. I have worked as a counsellor in a GP Practice and as a counsellor in a secondary school. I have held various posts in a number of specialised alcohol and drug agencies and have also worked with victims of domestic violence and with woman who have been r***d. I also have a lot of experience in working in the fields of sexuality, sexual orientation and identity. During my time working as a counsellor in a school, I was pivotal in setting up New Zealand’s first Gay/Straight Alliance. My initial training was as a Rogerian Person Centred counsellor, and throughout the years I have added other approaches to enhance my work. It is important to me that I respect my client, create a safe and welcoming space, and work from a position of non-judgement. I am an Accredited Member of NAPCP (National Association of Pastoral Counselling and Psychotherapy), and as part of my on-going professional development I attend workshops and training throughout the year. I am in regular supervision with an Accredited Supervisor.
