NEW YEAR, NEW ME ------ or maybe not?
The benefit of not setting a new year resolution.

My 5 TOP HELPFUL TIPS are at the end of this post.

Fewer people make hard new years resolutions year on year.
Looking at both sides of the coin, in my view that's both good and bad. Here is why:

WHAT'S GOOD ABOUT NOT SETTING A NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION?

If you are simply shooting from the hip and don't have your ducks in a row to see it through, before you begin you are setting yourself up for failure, disappointment and possibly the notion that you just can't do it and consequently give up ever having another shot at changing what you no longer want in your life.

So not making a resolution where you set yourself up for failure from the start is definitely a good thing! It leaves the door open to do the all important groundwork first and then give it everything you got, armed to the teeth with everything you need to achieve your personal success....seriously, check out my tips at the end of this post.

WHAT'S BAD ABOUT NOT SETTING A NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION?

Not picking a definite starting point frequently leads to not ever getting of the ground at all. It's true neverland in anybodies currency.

Without setting a definite starting date you miss out on getting all fired up. Having set up your starting date can hugely support you, getting you excited about taking back personal control.

Not setting up your starting date undermines your personal level of motivation. You're likely to start on half empty, when what you really need is a truck load of that and then some.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Good intentions without a solid actionable plan including setting your day one, tend to stay just that. Good intentions.

OK so by now I'm sure you can see that picking your day one is only a single part of the bigger roadmap to set you up for your successful outcome.

MY PERSONAL FIVE TOP TIPS:
So what can you do to really make things happen for you and set the odds in your favour?

1: FIGURE OUT PRECISELY WHAT YOU WANT!!!
Being vague about what you want doesn't work. Have your vision sorted out in great detail. It will give you something solid to lean against throughout your transformation and beyond.

2: IDENTIFY YOUR WHY.
Do yourself the biggest favour and don't skimp on this one.
Know why >road to success
No why > road to failure

3: GET YOUR SUPPORT TEAM ON YOUR SIDE.
Have that conversation with your family and friends well before you start your transformation. You are more likely to achieve permanent changes if your family and friends are on your side. Be specific. For example if you go out for lunch with your mates once a week, ask them not to push you into having something that you don't want in your life anymore. The old "go on treat yourself" is really not helpful. Make it clear.

4: FIND AND PLAN NEW WAYS TO CELEBRATE.
This is really important, especially in the early days, when you are in the process of cementing your new, better habits and behaviour.
If in the past you rewarded yourself with a bottle of wine or food, its time to find better and more meaningful ways.
Recognising, acknowledging, and appreciating even small successes along your journey is vital selfcare in action.

5: PREPARE TO BE PRODUCTIVELY HONEST WITH YOURSELF
What does that even mean? Being honest with yourself in a productive manner means assessing how you are doing without blame, shame or guilt...simple as that. If you find that you are struggling once in a while or even consistently with parts of the changes you are making, sit back and figure out what is making it difficult. Then sit down with that information and figure out how to change that or put mechanisms into place so that these challenges don't occur in the first place........productive honesty is solution focused, it is NEVER blame, shame or guilt focused.

HOT BONUS TIP:
If you are overwhelmed to figure out any or all of the above by yourself get an experienced professional to help you out. An experienced hypnotherapist will help you to tease this information out in a single fact finding consultation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q; How long does this kind of fact finding consultation take?
A: Expect to invest approximately 1 - 1 1/2 hours.

Q: Can I ask questions during this consultation?
A: Yes, in fact you should be encouraged to ask questions and your chosen hypnotherapist should 100% answer each and everyone of them. Big Red flag, if they skirt around your questions, including cost, walk away.

Q: Will I be hypnotised during this fact finding consultation?
A: No, the consultation is purely to help you and your therapist to figure out what is the best way forward for you personally taking your unique facts into full consideration. Some therapists may offer a very short non therapeutic hypnotherapy session so that you can experience what it actually feels like to be in hypnosis. This is usually no longer than 5 to 10 minutes.

Q: Do I have to decide straight away whether I want to go ahead with hypnotherapy to help me solve my problem?
A: Absolutely not. Take your time to make the right decision for you. If you have further questions after your fact finding consultation call your hypnotherapist and ask them, they should be happy to take a call.

Q: Is a consultation by itself a waste of my money and time?
A: No, it will absolutely help you to gain clarity about you, your problem and will be helpful to work it out if you choose to go it alone.

This really resonated with me, so I stole it from a friends timeline.
People falling through the cracks because they have gone beyond the point of being able to reach out for help or perhaps have tried reaching out and were disappointed by what was or wasn't offered to them.
Sometimes it's up to us, sometimes we need to reach in, towards those who can't reach out. Working from that age old principle of " I am my brothers keeper".
These are just my own musings on this.
