The ears, particularly the middle ear structure is connected to auditory processing, the facial muscles/expression and cranial nerves. All of which can regulate the autonomic nervous system given the right sounds. We have shared typical responses to sounds - it's easy to see if you observe a baby responding to a loud bang, a growl or a gentle lullaby, but as we grow we gather our own personal favourites and those that are detested! What's in your menu of sounds?
