In 2018, having literally no experience of hula dancing I've heard of the native hawaiian Kumu Hula - Lanakila Mangauil coming to Poland to teach. Not thinking too much (thankfully 😅) I've booked myself for the workshop.
I had no clue of all the hard work that's involved, and I am proud of myself that I did not run away the first day. Despite of all the thoughts that were running through my head, comparing myself to those dancing for years (hey, because why not), feeling so rigid in my body, like I had swallowed a stick (I still work on it) and telling myself I must be stupid to hope that I will catch up with the rest.
I thought many times of giving up. But I haven't.
I kept trying. Now, watching the old videos, I can hear my inner critic, but I know what I did wasn't easy.
And this is why I know well how you feel coming to dance hula with me 💚
Hula is not simply a dance, a set of routines that is performed. It's the story that takes you places.
It's connecting with your own mana, standing firm, grounded in the earth, and still be flowing and delicate like the wind, the water, strong and creative like the fire.
I am very excited to be dancing with kumu hula Lanakila Mangauil and my hula friends again, very soon -> 19-22 June ✨️ 🧡
I'm so looking forward to bringing the hula energy back to Ireland - another Wicklow hula workshop is planned for July (work in progress)💃
