W45 - Double National Champion (100m & 200m)
What a weekend ! I am only coming back to earth now tbh!
Just over 2 years ago, I had just had ACL reconstruction. A long road of rehab lay ahead. I hadn't done Athletics since I was 10yrs old but had always wondered "what if?". When the surgeon told me that my recovery was going so well, I could start running in a straight line, I thought "Brilliant, I can sprint"!
Within a few months I joined the sprint group in & was wrecking coach Buntu's head ! Thank you Buntu for believing in me from my early ACL rehab days in to all the support on the track. Having you at Nationals last weekend made such a difference.
There is a very special bunch in that sprint group & my masters gang are the reason I kept going ! You guys rock Joe, Sean, Will, Peter, Fi, Catherine 🙌🏼💪🏼❤️
Just over a year ago, I started working on a strength programme with . We have come so far in that year, worked seriously hard but had so much craic along the way. Forever grateful to all the
crew who have welcomed me with open arms & encouraged me every step of the way !
This is my 2nd season as a sprinter, there's been a broken toe, a sprained ankle, ups and downs which makes it even sweeter finishing the season with a clean sheet! What's so special is the community in Masters sprinting, Sinead, Sarah, the Lucan Ladies, Avril, everyone!
And course, I couldn't do it any of ot if it wasn't for my gorgeous man who believes in me & supports me endlessly. Bringing the kids to all my races (& dealing with the non-stop requests!). X###
Now, Madeira, see you for the European Masters Championships in October 😱💪🏼
