We are so in love with the new series on Netflix called "S*x Education" . The series starts out by shattering a dominant myth where a young man is not in the moment while having s*x and fakes an or**sm. Men do not always or**sm when they have s*x and sometimes they don't want to have s*x and that's okay, and natural and normal. S*x Education

Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our counseling centers. They volunteer day and night to provide at-risk youth with support and assistance in times of distress and crisis.

This past week we celebrated the graduation of a new group of volunteers who underwent three months of training so that they can work with youth at our counseling centers across the country!

Let's face it, adolescence is a confusing time. Teens are experiencing changes in their bodies, learning how to have intimate relationships, and on top of it all have more difficult school work and have to start planning for the future. All of this in combination with smartphones at their fingertips leads teens to gain information from unreliable sources on the internet. They are learning about s*x from po*******hy causing an unrealistic understanding of s*xual relationships.

At Open Door we work to bring reliable information and a safe space where teenagers and young adults can ask questions, learn about healthy relationships, contraception, and all of the other changes and challenges they are facing in their lives.

Below is a biography from the Washington Post of one teen's experience as he works through growing up and learns how to be a "good guy" in light of the movement and societal pressures as men to hide their sensitivy and exhibit aggresivity.

The world taught him to be strong and stoic. But he knows his silence comes at a cost.

 Principle point of contact for donors, foundations, and federations
 Creates long-term and short-term work plans for the unit
 Works with other members of the staff to ensure all donor and foundation requirements are met
 Responsible for all English language materials (reports, proposals, overseas communication, website and other promotional materials(
 Maintains current funding portfolio and develops new sources of revenue
 Maintains our social media presence on Facebook with weekly posts
 Manages a team of up to two interns

Qualifications
 At least two years fundraising experience
 Experience with grant writing and editing documents in English
 Native level English language and advanced level Hebrew
 A strong knowledge of the philanthropy sector in Israel and abroad
 Strong computer skills
 Works well under pressure

Part time position: 50%

Today Open Door Beer Sheva Program Coordinator, Sivan Lotan presented about the Ambassador Project at the Elem Conference on "Sharing, participation, and working in partnership with teenagers and young adults".

The Ambassador Project brings together 20 teenagers ages 16-18 from high schools across Beer Sheva to participate in a year-long program where they learn information and leadership skills about s*xual health, intimacy and relationships. At the end of the year they faciliate presentations and workshops for 10th grade students in high schools in Beer Sheva as part of S*xual Health Week.

On Tuesday, December 4th Open Door staff joined the strike to demand the government do more to end violence against women.

Open Door’s Executive Director, Sharon Cherkasky and Chairwoman of the board, Ruti Gilat, stand in front of an exhibit of 24 pairs of shoes painted red to commemorate the 24 women and girls murdered as a result of domestic violence this year.

Today marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Violence against women is one of the most widespread human rights violations in the world. This year, the UN developed a campaign called Orange the World to bring to light the stories of women who have survived s*xual assault. You can learn more about their campaign here (http://www.unwomen.org/en/news/in-focus/end-violence-against-women ).

Please take some time today, whether it be marching in a women's march, donating to a worthy cause, or sharing an article, to contribute to the elmination of violence against women.

This past Friday Open Door held a Volunteer Appreciation Event and it was fantastic! The event was filled with various activities including acro-yoga, tarot card readings, a cocktail bar, jewelry design, food, gifts and more!

Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our counseling centers. They volunteer day and night to provide at-risk youth with support and assistance in times of distress and crisis.

A big thank you to our amazing volunteers and a thank you to everyone who donated their time and resources to make this event happen!

Open Door was happy to host Rachel Adler-Oren from Rachel Oren - Trauma Sensitive Yoga last week for an informative and interesting presentation about the connection between our minds and our bodies and the interplay of trauma in both of these spheres.

Our volunteers are excited to use the tools they learned in their counseling sessions to ensure the teenagers who come to our center are able to connect to their bodies, improving their self-image and body-awareness.

Thank you Rachel for a great night!
