University of Haifa International Art Therapy MA Program A full-time, two-year program, including 600 hours of field training, Taught in English, Art therapists are trained in both art and therapy.

The University of Haifa’s international master’s degree in Art Therapy is a full-time, two-year program designed to prepare professionals to practice in this new and growing field of therapy. The program takes place over three consecutive semesters, from October until September at the University of Haifa, then the second year students will complete a practicum in their home country. The program is

taught in English, in a warm and welcoming learning environment; an exciting multicultural experience on an ethnically and religiously diverse campus. During the fall, spring, and summer semesters, students complete their academic coursework at the University of Haifa and receive supervision for their field training. Upon successful completion of all academic requirements, which include a cumulative final exam and field training hours, students will be awarded a master of arts in Creative Arts Therapies with a specialization in Art Therapy. Art therapy is a dynamic field in the mental health profession that uses art media, such as paint, chalk, crayons and sculpture as its primary mode of communication. Art therapy is used with people of all ages, from children to the elderly, and it is especially valuable with clients who have difficulties expressing themselves verbally. Art therapists work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, educational institutions, community mental health facilities, prisons, hospices, day-care centers and private practices. Art therapy is a dynamic field in the mental health profession that uses art media, such as paint, chalk, crayons and sculpture, as its primary mode of communication. They use their knowledge about human development, psychological theories, clinical practice, and artistic creation to provide treatment and assessment to clients as well as to research topics within the healthcare field.
