This May, we wrapped up 𝐓𝟐𝐌𝐄𝐃 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, the annual medical entrepreneurship hackathon of the Ruth and Bruce Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Technion – and what an experience it was!
T2MED brings together 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟔𝟎 of the brightest students 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟏𝟎 different Technion faculties — including medicine, engineering, and the sciences — to tackle unmet clinical needs and reimagine the future of healthcare.
The journey began with an immersive Orientation Day at Carmel Medical Center. We heard an inspirational opening from 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐘𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐫-𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐢. Learnt from 𝐃𝐫. 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐲 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐤 on Need-Based Innovation using the Biodesign Method. Students joined round tables with mentors to explore clinical pain points and brainstorm early ideas.
From May 14–16, work continued at the Faculty of Medicine. Supported by mentors in medicine, tech, law, design, and business, students researched, prototyped, and pitched real solutions.
Hard not to mention some standout moments from the hackathon:
• A fascinating talk on “Medical Ethics and AI” by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐢-𝐏𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨, sparking big questions about tech in healthcare
• A calming yoga break at 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨 𝐁𝐚𝐭-𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐦 to recharge body and mind
• A dynamic pitch workshop with 𝐘𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐊𝐚𝐭𝐳𝐦𝐚𝐧 (𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐨), packed with tips to present like a pro
16.05 marked the 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭, featuring the Semi-Finals and Grand Finals – where teams pitched their ideas to a panel of judges, the most influential representatives in their fields, including:
𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐀𝐦𝐢 𝐀𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐦, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐯𝐢 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐠, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐀𝐛𝐛𝐨𝐮, 𝐘𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐳𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐯, 𝐍𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐡, 𝐑𝐨𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐑𝐮𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐢𝐧, 𝐘𝐚𝐚𝐤𝐨𝐯 𝐃𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐤𝐲, 𝐇𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐬 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐟
