Is respect is Optional in Marriage?

Truth: Basic respect should always be a given in a healthy marriage. It’s not something you earn; it’s a fundamental right for both partners. 🤝

But what happens when respect is missing?
🔸 Communication breaks down.
🔸 Trust erodes.
🔸 Resentment builds.
🔸 Emotional safety disappears.
🔸Sexual pleasure disappears

Without respect, even love struggles to thrive. Healthy relationships aren’t just built on affection—they’re built on mutual respect. It’s the foundation that holds everything together.

Ask yourself: Did your colleague or the worker on the street have to earn your respect for you not to shout at them from the other room? Or be questioned for their every action?

How often do you make a conscious effort to connect through the eyes? 💫

Often, we can find ourselves rushing through daily routines or distracted during conversations, missing opportunities for true connection.

Take a moment to sit opposite your partner and intentionally gaze into their eyes. It may feel uncomfortable, even nerve-wracking, because your eyes are the window to your soul—the space where emotions, depth, and divine presence reside.

Why?

Because when we look deeply into each other's eyes, we confront our true selves and each other with honesty and vulnerability. This act of intentional connection brings a new level of unity—physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Make it a part of your daily or weekly routine to consciously connect in this way, and experience a profound sense of presence and understanding.

Burnout is real and it sucks!

It's not about the one-week vacation we've been waiting for all year.

We shouldn't have to just survive our everyday lives.

I’m speaking from experience. I would stay up until 2 AM working, trying to get everything done, and I couldn’t function in any relationship. My mental capacity was maxed out.

I was doing it all wrong until I woke up and realized it didn’t have to be this way.

Our sages teach that loving others starts with loving ourselves. Torah and Chassidus emphasize that when we find tranquility within, we can bring harmony to our homes.

Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the Alter Rebbe, taught in Tanya that a person must work on their own soul and character to create peace and harmony around them.

When I am not at peace within myself, I notice more conflicts and misunderstandings in my relationship. Small issues become big arguments, and stress permeates our home. However, when I take time to connect with Hashem, reflect, and work on my own inner peace, my relationship transforms. Communication improves, love flows more freely, and our home becomes a sanctuary of shalom bayis.

That's why our work at Yichud is so vital. We help you align with your truth, uncover what is preventing you from having that inner peace, and connect deeply with yourself. We provide actionable steps to support this journey towards self-discovery and harmony.

Is it even possible?

Just because we are married with kids and life is full-on and busy doesn't mean that our intimate life needs to suffer or be put on the back burner.

When we do not focus on our connection, it becomes the breeding ground for resentment, frustration, arguments, and loneliness.

Come join us on Wednesday, May 29th, at 1:30 PM EST / 8:30 PM IST, where we will show you the 3 pillars of intimacy and how establishing this foundation will lead to building a strong mini Beit Hamikdash.

What do you think?

Men, your duration during intimacy should not define your masculinity.

You are more than that.

YET, it can hugely impact your self-esteem. It's a real struggle men have with PE. It can lead to feeling inadequate, shameful, and disappointed.

This doesn't only affect your intimate life; it can affect your marriage, connection, focus, work.

This is why it is fundamental to work on it. Let's break the stigma and empower ourselves to enhance both our intimacy and self-worth!

Join Me, Assaf in my upcoming Men's course where we will be addressing exactly this! PM for more info.
