WHY HOMEMADE ALMOND MILK?
- Purer. Commercial varieties often contain a combination of almonds, water, sweetener, a seaweed derived thickener such as carrageenan (possible carcinogen and cause of gastrointestinal inflammation), and, often, fortified nutrients. Raw food healer David Wolfe points out that almond milk can be so low in calories – about 30 calories in a cup – because it is mostly water with sweetener.
