United Hatzalah Square Dedicated in Memory of Volunteer Yoel Suissa z"l in Dimona

A dedication ceremony was held on Sunday in Dimona for United Hatzalah Square, honoring the memory of United Hatzalah EMT Yoel Suissa, who was killed in a traffic accident in December 2022. Family members, city leaders, and United Hatzalah responders gathered to pay tribute to his legacy of service and mutual responsibility.

Eli Beer, Founder and President of United Hatzalah, stated: “We grieve together with the Suissa family and remember Yoel's service and how he inspired people. Our volunteer responders drop everything at a moment's notice to help those they do not know but require medical assistance. This square shows that Yoel’s service will never be forgotten, and that even in our deepest pain, we reaffirm our commitment to stand behind our volunteers and their families. This is why United Hatzalah continues to raise money to help support the Suissa family since Yoel's accident.”

Last week, at the request of the Jewish community of Sydney, United Hatzalah’s Psychotrauma & Crisis Response Unit was deployed following the terror attack to support the community in its most vulnerable moments. Drawing on Israel’s experience in mass-casualty trauma, our team provided immediate emotional care in hospitals, synagogues, funerals, and private homes.

Over one intensive week, our professionals carried out more than 650 interventions supporting bereaved families, injured victims, children, volunteers, and community leaders alongside local partners. As our delegation returns to Israel, we do so with deep respect for the strength and resilience of the Australian Jewish community and with a clear message from Israel and beyond: you are not alone.

United Hatzalah Mourns the Tragic Loss of Volunteer Chemi Erlanger z"l

United Hatzalah announces with profound sorrow and deep pain the untimely death of its devoted volunteer, Chemi Erlanger z"l, a member of the organization's Ambucycle Unit from the Harish Branch and a father of five, who was killed this evening in a severe traffic collision while returning home to celebrate Chanukah with his family from the base where he was serving as a reservist in the IDF.

The collision occurred when a vehicle crossed multiple lanes and struck him. The incident is under investigation by authorities.

United Hatzalah's leadership and 8,000 volunteers mourn the tragic loss of Chemi z"l, who was one of the pillars of the lifesaving emergency response network in his community. He served with boundless dedication and was always the first to step forward in every act of kindness and assistance.

President and Founder of United Hatzalah Eli Beer stated: "This is an incomprehensible tragedy. Our hearts are broken. Today we lost a true hero, a volunteer who always gave far beyond what was required and devoted his life, time, and energy to saving lives. Chemi z"l was killed while riding his emergency motorcycle home from his IDF base, on his way to celebrate Chanukah with his beloved family. We embrace his dear family and extend our heartfelt condolences to all 8,000 United Hatzalah volunteers during these painful moments. His memory and his legacy will remain with us always."

May his memory be a blessing.
