As a licensed Chinese medicine practitioner in Jerusalem, I’ve been treating patients with acupuncture, herbs and tuina (physical therapy massage) for more than a decade. I came to Chinese medicine as a patient seeking help when I had my own health issues and conventional medicine could not address them. For me, experiencing the effect of acupuncture was a eureka moment. Not only did it get my hea
lth back on track, but the philosophy supporting the use of needles inspired me to make a career change. Understanding how patterns of internal disharmony may lead to illness is the foundation of Chinese medicine. How to bring the body back into balance not only through acupuncture massage and herbs, but through changes in diet, exercise, lifestyle and mindset enables individuals to achieve healthier lives. Coming from a family of western medical practitioners, I also believe that the integration of west and east can often be the best medicine there is to offer. Chinese medicine therapies that I use in my clinic include treatments for muscle or joint pain, repetitive motion injuries, TMJ, trigeminal neuralgia, Bell’s palsy, diffuse migraines, chronic pain, chronic illnesses, digestive issues, autoimmune diseases (ex: Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis), IBS/IBD, sleep difficulties, allergies, breathing problems, cosmetic complaints etc. A focus in my clinic is also to treat many fertility and gynecology cases, peri-natal and post-partum related disorders, anxiety, depression and stress. I have a degree in Traditional Chinese medicine from the four-year program at Reidman College. I have also studied Master Tung acupuncture (with his disciples in Taiwan and with internationally renowned Master Wei-Chieh Young). I completed a 2-year certification program in Japanese medicine. In addition to these modalities, I also practice Dr. Nambrudipad’s allery elimination technique NAET (www.naet.com) as well as Somatic Experiencing (https://gethelpisrael.com/blog/somatic-experiencing-se). In addition to my own clinic, I am pleased to be on the teaching staff at the Mayanot college for complementary medicine, where I teach acupuncture to first through fourth years students, and I am proud to be part of a pioneering team doing acupuncture in the labor, delivery and womens’ wards at Sharei Tzedek hospital in Jerusalem. I hold a B.A. in English literature with a minor in music from Barnard College-Columbia University in New York. I made Aliyah to Jerusalem in 2000 and am married with 3 children. I’m available for phone or email consultations to discuss whether Chinese medicine is appropriate for you. Tamara
