Ensuring Continuity of Rehabilitation for Children in Crisis Zones

Rehabilitation is a long and delicate process, especially for children with disabilities. In times of war or humanitarian crisis, this process often stops at the most critical moments of their growth.

Based on this understanding, NATAN Worldwide Disaster Reliefwide Disaster Relief and בית חולים אלי"ן created נפל"א.

This partnership brings together ALYN’s medical and tech skills with NATAN’s experience in disaster zones.

The initiative serves children with disabilities in war zones by offering professional advice through remote video calls and works with פל"א (a team within the hospital's innovation center) to create and adapt special tools for sitting, moving, communicating, and daily tasks like eating and dressing. Additionally, it provides training for local teams on the ground.

The goal is to make sure these children can keep improving and gaining independence, even in difficult situations.

From Fire to Strength, An ALYN Story 🔥

Moshe’s life changed in a single moment, after a house fire left him with severe burns and the beginning of a long rehabilitation journey. “Burn recovery is a very long process,” his family shares, “but one of our miracles was arriving at ALYN.”

Step by step, his body began to heal, his strength returned, and through archery, he found focus, confidence, and a new sense of self, not just a patient, but an athlete.
“The team gives Moshe the strength to succeed, they make him want to try,” his family says.

Archers at ALYN 🎯
Just before our daily lives were interrupted due to the war, we hosted Israel’s national archery team for a special training session with children at ALYN. For a few hours, they trained side by side with top athletes, gaining tips, aiming for their targets, and building strength, focus, and confidence, true archers in every sense.

Caring for Those Who Care 💙

When the war broke out and schools and kindergartens closed, ALYN’s essential staff still needed to be here for the children who depend on them. Within the first days, the hospital opened a special daycare for staff children, located inside one of the hospital’s protected areas, where creative activities and games led by an energetic team help bring calm and normalcy during uncertain times.

The Most Natural Kind of Inclusion 💙

During a recent therapy session at ALYN, something quite beautiful happened. A therapist’s young son - who joined the session because of the war situation and the lack of regular childcare - began playing alongside another child receiving treatment. Together they rolled dough, shared tools, laughed on the mats, and simply enjoyed being kids together.

At one point, in the honest curiosity only children have, he asked why the other boy used a wheelchair. The answer was simple: because it’s hard for him to move his legs. And then they went right back to playing. Moments like these remind us that inclusion often begins in the most natural place, childhood itself.

Prepared to Care, No Matter the Circumstances 💙

We were honored to host Dr. Yaron Sachar, Head of the Rehabilitation Division at Israel’s Ministry of Health, and Dr. Yoni Yosef, Deputy Head of the Medical Division.
During their visit, we presented ALYN’s rapid preparations to ensure uninterrupted rehabilitation care during Operation “Roaring Lion”, including protected treatment spaces and hybrid care solutions, ensuring every patient continues receiving the care they need.

Purim Spirit, No Matter What 🎭

Although this year we couldn’t celebrate Purim as we usually do, our children still received a special visit that kept the holiday spirit alive.
The dedicated Central District Traffic Unit of the Israel Police came to ALYN to personally distribute traditional Mishloach Manot to every family, bringing smiles, warmth, and a much-needed moment of celebration.
