I loved my convesation with Emma Goff, a fertility awareness educator.

This is one of those episodes that you can use as a gateway to have a meaningful and important conversation with your daughter!

We talk about all things periods, tracking, birth control, hormones, fertility and more.

These conversations really talk about things that you will never hear from your Doctor, and will help you and your daughter get more informed about what is actually going on in your body!

👉 What makes your work different to other menopause coaches or going to my doctor?
I get asked this often on discovery calls.
Especially the "why should I come and see you if you are not a Doctor?" question.
And I LOVE this because it gives me a chance to begin a different conversation with my clients.
So this is what I usually answer them:
đŸ©· Contrary to the popular narrative, I don't believe that menopause is primarily a “hormone deficiency problem”.
đŸ©· In contrast to your doctor who will focus solely on fixing your symptoms with HRT, I want you to understand the deep profound relevance of your menopause and what it's here to teach you.
đŸ©· I will look at your whole body from a physical, emotional and cognitive perspective AND your health history, your blood work (not the way your doctor does!), how your essential body systems are working, how to boost the good hormones and bring it all together in a way that makes sense for you.
đŸ©· I don't believe that more information = better outcomes. Because at the moment in the menopause space more information just means more confusion. I focus supporting you with implementing this knowledge and applying what is right for you (not a generic approach).

I apply these principles in my client work, but these are essential elements of my Menopause Informed Training Program for Practitioners.
Most practitioners who work with women 40+ are being educated and informed by podcasts, books and TV shows.
If you are a certified coach, therapist, wellness practitioner, or healer, these sources of information are not going to cut it when you need to connect the dots for the client sitting in front of you!!

If you want to be menopause informed, talk with authority to your clients and be the go-to menopause practitioner in your field, the Menopause Informed Training Program is what you have been looking for!!

This is a fascinating read on the "menopause in the workplace" conversation.
There is a random statistic thrown around the UK, that has been adopted by others, that 900,000 menopause women leave the work place because of their menopause.
That statistic really doesn't mean anything because it has been extrapolated from some small data sets, but without specifiying a time line, age of woman, industry or details of career.
This article gives another view of the "menopause in the workplace" debate and actually really made me think about the "institutional challenges" that women still face in the workplace.

"Yes, symptoms such as fatigue, hot flashes, or brain fog can make work harder to sustain. But menopause comes at a moment of cumulative strain. It does not create the inequalities. It amplifies those that already exist."

Take a read!

Menopause initiatives must go hand in hand with reforms in job design, flexibility, and inclusion.

For our 30th episode I am joined by Mandy Merrifield for a really fun and "expectations-busting" conversation.

We talk about identity, resilience, and what it really takes to rebuild your life on your own terms.

We explore how the “fairy tale” narratives we’ve been sold shape the way women live and why so many in midlife find themselves questioning everything they assumed to be true about "being a woman".

When midlife clients don’t respond the way we expect, most practitioners do one thing:

They work harder.

They add more tools.
Ask better questions.
Go deeper.
Try to unlock what’s “underneath.”

And sometimes
 that works.

But sometimes it doesn’t.

Because what you’re seeing isn’t resistance.
It isn’t avoidance.
It isn’t a lack of insight.

It’s a nervous system and a brain being influenced by hormonal change.

Which means:
The same tools don’t land the same way.
The same capacity isn’t available.
The same emotional bandwidth simply isn’t there.

This is where menopause-informed practice changes everything.

Not by replacing what you do.
But by helping you see when and how to use it.

I’ve put together a free masterclass that walks you through this shift in a clear, grounded way.

There’s a moment that happens in sessions with midlife women.

It’s subtle and easy to miss.

The client is doing the work.
She’s self-aware, engaged, and insightful.
And yet
 something isn’t shifting.

She’s more anxious than she used to be.
More overwhelmed.
Less resilient to stress.
Her thinking feels slower, and her emotions bigger.

You lean into your training.
Mindset. Regulation. Behavioural tools.
But it doesn’t quite land.

Not because you’re doing it wrong.
But because you’re missing context.

Menopause isn’t just a phase your client is going through in the background.
It is actively shaping how she experiences everything you’re working on together.

And without a menopause-informed lens, it’s incredibly easy to misread the moment.

My free masterclass can help you see what’s actually happening and how to adjust your work accordingly.

The International Menopause Society (IMS) has just released their most updated recommendations and key messages on women’s midlife health and menopause.

This is a LONG and detailed document, based on current available research and evidence, developed by a body of 38 authors and 27 support team members.

It covers ALL areas of menopause, including but not limited to the occurance of symptoms, the role and effectiveness of MHT (menopause hormonal therapy) to treat symptoms, the role of alternative treatments (complementary therapies), the influence of media, Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) and more.

It is a comprehensive document which really needs to be read and understood by all healthcare practitioners who are supporting midlife women.

What the document highlights for me, is that the click-bait or simple social media statments made by many are way to simplistic and don't really reflect the nuances and need for personalisation within the menopause conversation!

The 2 top conclusions in the report are key for me - and are so often ignored in the menopause conversation.

👉 A well-balanced conversation informed by evidence-based recommendations is crucial to the ethical management of women’s midlife health and menopause.
👉 Any treatment, hormonal or otherwise, should be underpinned by optimizing lifestyle, diet, exercise, avoiding or stopping smoking and minimizing alcohol consumption.

Meaning ....... that whilst MHT can play a significant in symptom treatment, it needs to be part of a larger conversation!!

If you are a therapist, coach or practitioner supporting midlife women you really need to understand how menopause is showing up for your client.

It's not enough just to know that your client may be "in the right age range" but what does that actually mean for her, for the reason why she may be coming to you in the first place!!

I created the Menopause Informed Training Program to give you all the information you need to understand what your client is really going through and to help you connect the dots, so that you DON'T have to read this document!!!

And so I was really honoured that she agreed to be a guest on my podcast.😊

This week on the Things I want my Daughters to Know, I talk with Sarah about how menopause shows up for women leaders and business owners and how by reframing this experience we can use it to actually show up in a more meaningful way to grow our business.

Our bodies are complex beings.

Yes it would be nice if it was as simple as social media makes it out to be.

If you are following some of the big menopause voices you probably think that menopause is just about the decline of eostrogen and progesterone (and maybe testosterone if you are following some more forward thinking voices).
But that is just the beginning of the story.

Peri-menopause and menopause IS a about change and fluctuation but it is NOT limited to 3 hormones.

It is a whole body experience.
It is about change in the whole endocrine system.
It is about change in key organs and systems in the body.
It is about a rewiring of our brain.
It is about a reassessment and re-evaluation of your priorities.

Menopause starts with 3 hormones but it doesn't end there.
It doesn't end with a symptom check list.
If you limit the menopause conversation to a conversation about your reproductive hormones you are missing a BIG piece of the story.

And if you are a therapist, coach, wellness practitioner or health coach working with and supporting women 40+ and you are not bringing a menopause perspective to your work you are also missing a BIG piece of the story.

As a therapist or coach you need to see beyond the symptoms.
To encover how this life stage transition is really showing up for your client.

To discover the person who is infront of you and how her menopause experience is impacting the reason she came to you in the first place.

This goes way beyond hormones and symptoms.

This is about really seeing the woman infront of you and supporting her to navigate her midlife years in a much more profound way.

If you are a therapist, coach, practitioner and you want to go deeper wth your client you are in the right place!!

The Menopause Informed Training Program might just be what you are looking for.

It was such a honour to have Heather Currie MBE on the Things I want my Daughters to Know Podcast.

She is one of the original voices in the menopause space, has been chair of the BMS and has watched the menopause conversation change and grow over the last 30 years.

Her wealth of knowledge and perspective is invaluable.

This is THE conversation to listen to if you want sensible, myth busting, evidence informed information!

Listen to my conversation with her on Apple, Spotify or Watch on Youtube.
