Laniado Hospital was founded in 1976 by the Rabbi of Cloisenburg - the late Rabbi Yekutiel Yehuda Halberstam, who survived the Holocaust. After he was injured and recovered, he took it upon himself to build a hospital based on a team of doctors and nurses who have faith in the God and therefore are able to heal people. Laniado Hospital is named after two brothers, Alphonse and Yaakov Avraham Lania
do, who came from the city of Aleppo in Syria. The brothers dedicated their money after their death to opening a hospital in the Land of Israel, which was given the name "Laniado". It never shuts down and treats every person regardless of race, religion or nationality. Laniado Hospital has over 400 beds and more than 45 hospitalization wards, medical units, institutes, laboratories and administrative and medical departments. The Hospital operates outpatient clinics serving the residents of the area. Among them are clinics for gynecology, pediatrics, orthopedics, surgery, neurology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, cardiology and more. Over 180,000 people are treated in Laniado every year. Laniado is the only hospital located in the Netanya Area, and it provides its services to approximately 350,000 people. In 1976, the medical center opened its doors with a maternity department. One by one, more departments were opened: internal medicine, ophthalmology, pediatrics, surgery, otolaryngology, intensive care, gynecology, dialysis, hematology, gastroenterology, oncology, catheterization unit, orthopedics and more. The medical center implements the most innovative methods. Due to the equipment, the tools, the expertise of the staff and their skill, the Hospital have earned the name of the Sanz Medical Center as one of the leading medical centers in Israel. The medical center was built mainly from donations from benefactors who contributed and contribute generously to the building, the equipment, the instruments and the multiple budgets that its operators need for its daily maintenance. To ensure the regular flow of funds, friend associations headed by the "International Board of Trustees" were established around the world.
