💡 Feel Good Tip of the Week 💡

By the time Friday arrives, many people are carrying the whole week in their body.

Tight shoulders. Busy mind. Heavy legs. Short temper. Low energy.

Before Shabbat begins, give yourself 2 minutes to reset:

✨ Stand tall and take 3 slow, deep breaths
✨ Roll your shoulders back gently
✨ Stretch your neck side to side
✨ Unclench your jaw
✨ Let your exhale be longer than your inhale

Sometimes the best way to prepare for Shabbat… is to arrive feeling calm in your body.

And if the tension has built up too much this week, starting next week with a treatment can help you truly switch off and recharge.

💡Feel Good Tip of the Week💡
A client came to see me recently with constant neck and shoulder pain, and the cause surprised him.
He was spending a few hours each day carrying and holding his two-year-old daughter.

Anyone with young children knows how natural it is — picking them up, holding them on one side, carrying them when they’re tired, comforting them, lifting them in and out of the car…

But over time, that repeated strain can put a lot of pressure on the neck, shoulders, and upper back. In his case, the muscles had become very tight and overloaded, especially on one side. With Shiatsu massage and focused treatment, we worked on releasing the tension, improving movement, and reducing the pressure those muscles were creating.

After treatment, he felt looser, lighter, and had much less pain.

A few simple tips if this sounds familiar:
👶 Switch sides regularly when carrying your child
🧍‍♂️ Stand tall instead of leaning one hip out
🔄 Take short stretch breaks for the neck and shoulders
💆‍♂️ Don’t ignore ongoing pain — it usually responds well to treatment

💡 Feel Good Tip of the Week 💡

After a busy Pesach, most people crash, and that's completely understandable. But long stretches on the sofa can actually trigger back, neck, and shoulder pain just as much as overdoing it.

The body isn't designed for prolonged stillness. Muscles stiffen, circulation slows, and small aches start to feel bigger.

A few simple things that can help:
✔ Get up and move for a few minutes every hour
✔ If you're sitting, keep your lower back in contact with the chair back
✔ Take a minute or two to stretch your neck and lower back during the day

Rest is important, but gentle, regular movement is what actually helps the body recover.

Woken up sore after all the Pesach prep and a late Seder night? You’re not imagining it.

For many people, the back, neck, and shoulder pain only really kicks in after the rush is over, once the body finally has a moment to feel everything it’s been carrying.

After days of cleaning, cooking, lifting, bending, stress, less sleep, and then a late night at the Seder (not to mention the added “bonus” of middle-of-the-night sirens 🚨), it’s very common to wake up feeling tight, achy, and exhausted.

What many people don’t realise is that lack of sleep can make muscle and back pain feel worse.

When the body is overtired, muscles often stay tenser, recovery is slower, and even small aches can feel much more noticeable.

A few simple things that can help:
😴 Don’t push through pain when exhausted – your body is already working harder
🚶‍♂️ Take short movement breaks instead of staying in one position too long
🧘‍♂️ Stretch your neck, shoulders, and lower back for a minute or two during the day
☕ Try not to replace rest with caffeine alone – tired muscles still need recovery

Sometimes the issue isn’t just what you’ve been doing; it’s also that your body hasn’t had enough chance to recover.

💡 Pain Tip of the Week 💡

Back pain from cleaning for Pesach? You’re not alone.

This time of year, I see a lot more back, neck, and shoulder pain — usually from long hours of cleaning, bending, scrubbing, and lifting.
The issue isn’t just the effort — it’s the repetitive movements and awkward positions (bending over low cupboards, reaching high shelves, scrubbing floors).

A few simple things that can help:
🧽 Break it up – avoid doing everything in one go; short sessions are much easier on the body
🪑 Use support when possible – sit or kneel instead of bending for long periods
🔄 Switch sides and positions – don’t keep using the same arm or posture
🧍‍♂️ Stand up and stretch regularly – especially your back and shoulders

Most of this pain is muscle tension — and with the right approach, it can be prevented or relieved quite quickly.
Good luck with the cleaning, and don’t forget to take care of your body as well.

💡 Pain Tip of the Week 💡

If your back or shoulders have been hurting more lately, stress may be part of the reason.

Over the past weeks, many people in Israel have been under a lot of stress — worrying about safety, children, disrupted sleep, and frequent trips to the safe room.

Stress often shows up physically in the body. When we’re under pressure, the body tightens muscles as part of the “fight-or-flight” response, which can lead to pain in the neck, shoulders, and lower back.

A few simple things that can help:
🚶‍♂️ Take short movement breaks during the day
🧘‍♂️ Do gentle neck and shoulder stretches
😬 Notice if you’re clenching your shoulders or jaw and consciously relax them

During stressful times, the body carries more tension than usual, and releasing those muscles can often bring quick relief.

💡 Pain Tip of the Week 💡

(I have been getting a lot of questions about managing pain, especially since the start of the war, with lack of sleep and long periods of time in the safe room - so I have decided to start a new series of posts)

Back pain from time spent in the safe room? You’re not alone.

Over the past week or so, I’ve spoken to quite a few people dealing with new back, neck, and shoulder pain.

Not surprisingly, a lot of it is coming from sitting or sleeping on the floor in the safe room for long periods.

Many people are also sleeping on thin mattresses or camping mats, which can leave the body without enough support during the night.

When we sit on a hard floor or sleep on a very thin mattress, the muscles in the lower back, hips, neck and shoulders tighten quickly.

A few simple things that can help:
- Add support if possible – even a folded blanket or towel under the lower back or hips can reduce strain when sitting or lying down.
- Use a small pillow or towel for the neck when sleeping to keep it in a neutral position.
- Change position when you can; even small shifts help prevent muscles from locking up.
- Gentle movement afterwards. Once you’re out, take a minute to slowly stretch your back and roll your shoulders.

If your back or shoulders have started hurting after time in the safe room, it’s usually muscle tension, and it can often be treated quite quickly.
