For the first time, MDA’s National Center for Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine hosted the practical session of the prestigious Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course in its new format. The session, held on behalf of the Israeli Society for Emergency Surgery and Trauma, the Israeli Surgical Association, and the Israeli Medical Association, brought together residents from surgery, anesthesiology, intensive care, and obstetrics.

The training environment enabled participants to engage in hands-on experience at the highest clinical level. Using innovative equipment to replicate real-life scenarios, residents carried out advanced drills and complex simulations. Each session was followed by in-depth debriefing and evaluation to improve real-time performance.

Conducted under the rigorous standards of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the course was led by Israel’s leading senior traumatologists and surgeons. We are proud of the organizational excellence and the partnerships that enable MDA to continue this critical work in future training sessions.

As a token of deep appreciation for MDA teams and their work during Operation “Roaring Lion,” a special food truck stopped by MDA stations this week to treat employees and volunteers.

The initiative was a chance to pause for a moment and say thank you for maintaining round-the-clock readiness, for providing care at complex destruction sites under fire and missile threats, while continuing to deliver unwavering response to routine medical emergencies.

A special thank you to Cross River and Centurion Anesthesia for their heartfelt generous contribution.

Dozens of ambassadors and diplomats from around the world visited the MDA National Headquarters in Ramla to gain an in-depth look at Israel’s national emergency medical services system.

During the visit, they were introduced to the 101 emergency call center, MDA’s advanced command-and-control systems developed by MDA, technologies that enable real-time incident management, and the extensive nationwide deployment of field units.

The delegation heard about MDA’s activities in both routine and emergency situations, its cooperation with all rescue and security agencies, and its commitment to reaching every person, anywhere and at any time, as quickly as possible. The ambassadors expressed their gratitude for the hospitality and noted their strong impression of the high level of professionalism, the exceptional dedication of the teams, and MDA’s advanced operational and technological capabilities, which constitute a unique model on a global scale.

Amid missile barrages and impacts, Magen David Adom (MDA) teams across the country continue to provide medical responses to routine emergency calls and to anyone in need of urgent medical assistance.

This story happened earlier this week in the community of Liman in the Western Galilee, when MDA teams saved the life of a man suffering from a life-threatening allergic reaction.

Despite the rocket threat, MDA volunteer Michal Mizrahi (45), a mother of three from Liman, did not hesitate. She rushed out immediately and reached him within just a few minutes.

“When I arrived, the patient was suffering from severe shortness of breath, his lips and face were swollen, and he could barely make a sound. I treated him using an EpiPen injector, which is designed exactly for situations like this, and afterward I assisted the Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) team that arrived a few minutes later,” she said. “The incredible MDA paramedic, Zar Bash Hirschfeld, continued treatment with the team, and afterwards they evacuated him to the hospital while continuing advanced medical care.”

“It’s frightening,” admitted Michal, who owns a functional training studio and has been volunteering with MDA for five years. “There are sirens with very little time to take cover. We had just returned home after being evacuated during the previous round, and just as we were getting used to normal life and being back home, this round began. But in our home, volunteering is a supreme value, and these are exactly the moments for which I choose to volunteer with MDA. The residents here know they have someone to rely on. As long as medical help is needed, Magen David Adom teams are here to save lives.”

MDA EMT, Ronald Kaykov, 23, from Petah Tikva, began his journey at MDA as a youth volunteer.

Like his fellow MDA employees and volunteers, he too remained on high alert. He staffed an on-call ambulance even when at home between shifts and was ready to respond quickly to any medical emergency. “When an early warning alert comes in, we prepare our bulletproof vests and helmets, take shelter in the safe room, and wait. If there is an impact, we head out immediately,” he shared. “On the way to the scene of a strike, your thoughts race, you run through the protocols in your head. You never know what you’re going to encounter, so you hope for the best and prepare for the worst. When we arrive at the scene, we give one hundred percent of ourselves to save lives.”

During the Passover holiday, Ronald was dispatched to the scene of a direct hit on a house in Petah Tikva. The house was empty of its residents, except for the family dog. “We searched and saw there were no people inside, and then I noticed the dog, who looked very frightened. He was curled up in himself, whimpering and shaking. I picked him up in my arms, we petted him and calmed him down until he recovered and started wagging his tail, and then we handed him over to kind neighbors,” he recalled.

“The only way to get through this difficult period is together.”

As part of preserving memory for future generations, Magen David Adom traditionally leads educational journeys to Poland. MDA staff and volunteers walk through ghettos, mass graves, and extermination camps, learning about medicine during the Holocaust and deepening the connection between loss and rebirth.

One of the most powerful realizations participants describe is the feeling of walking these sites wearing the Star of David on their uniform. Then, it was a yellow badge, a symbol of humiliation, persecution, and death. Today, the Red Star of David represents medical care, protection, commitment, and saving lives.

Today, we honor the Jewish medical teams who operated during the Holocaust. Under impossible conditions, without equipment, medicine, or food, and risking their lives constantly, they fought to save the sick and wounded, facing unimaginable moral dilemmas. Their strength in the darkness continues to guide us to this day.

We will continue to carry these values forward: saving lives, everywhere, at all times.

May the memory of the victims be blessed.

On march 30, during ongoing missile alerts in southern Israel, a call came in: a woman in Netivot was in advanced labor. Senior EMT Baha Elsaid arrived within minutes, just in time to hear a newborn baby crying as he entered the home.

The mother lay on the couch, holding her son who had been born moments earlier. Baha quickly stepped in to continue critical care; clamping and cutting the umbilical cord and monitoring the mother’s condition.

Then, a siren.

Unable to move the mother, Baha sent the family to shelter and stayed behind, continuing treatment and protecting both mother and baby until it was safe.

They were later evacuated to the hospital, safe and stable.

The ambulance that carried them was donated in memory of an MDA volunteer killed on October 7, and in that same vehicle, life began again.

Even under fire, through loss and uncertainty, MDA teams are there: bringing life into the world, protecting it, and refusing to let it stop. 💛

In moments when every second counts, the final call of EMT Ofira Israeli’s shift became a fight to save the life of an 11-year-old girl from Safed who collapsed during a siren.

After a 12-hour shift at MDA’s National Emergency Dispatch Center , Ofira calmly guided the family through CPR over the phone while dispatching nearby responders. EMT and ambulance driver Shneur Beitash, who lives in the same building, rushed in and began advanced resuscitation.

Within minutes, an MDA intensive care team arrived and continued treatment under rocket fire and en route to the hospital. Thanks to the rapid response and teamwork, the girl’s heart started beating again.

She is now hospitalized, and we are all praying for her full recovery.

Just before the evening of the seventh day of Passover begins, we wanted to share one of many moving moments experienced by our teams:

Last week, MDA teams responded to a call about a 43-year-old woman in labor at her home in the Bucharim neighborhood of Jerusalem.

MDA EMTs and paramedics arrived on scene and began transporting her to the hospital. During the transport, sirens were heard in the area. The team pulled over with the mother-to-be and followed Home Front Command safety guidelines.

Within a short time, the labor progressed, and with the professional assistance of the MDA team, the woman delivered her 11th child in the ambulance.

The birth went smoothly, and afterward, both mother and baby were transported to the hospital in good condition.

MDA EMT Baruch Shimon Bloy shared: “It was an especially emotional situation. During the sirens, we stayed focused on the mother and the delivery, and the moment the baby was born, we felt an incredible sense of purpose. Seeing new life come into the world specially in moments like these is something you never forget.”

We wish the family our warmest congratulations.

“A Little Robotic”: MDA EMT Tzvi David Responds
When a missile struck a residential area in Beit Shemesh, MDA teams were immediately dispatched.

Tzvi David (25), an MDA EMT and ambulance driver, rushed to the scene as part of the wartime response.

Working among damaged buildings, debris, and ongoing danger, teams searched for casualties, treated the injured, and evacuated patients to hospitals, all while maintaining clear coordination on the ground.

“In these moments, you focus on structure: dispatch, command, triage and evacuate,” Tzvi says.
“You almost have to be a little robotic. The processing comes later.”

That focus is what allows MDA teams to keep saving lives, even in the most complex scenes.

On the night of March 21, during a missile siren in Dimona, brothers Yakir and Yarin Talker entered the shelter with their family, when a powerful explosion was heard. Within seconds, both were already on their way out, each heading to his own ambulance, dispatched to a severe missile impact site in their city.

At the scene, they were met with extensive destruction, casualties, fire, and smoke. They treated the injured and evacuated them to hospitals, even as another siren caught them in the middle of treating a seriously injured child. With no shelter available, they lay on the ground and continued guiding those around them, maintaining calm under pressure.

Yakir, who has been volunteering with MDA since the age of 15, doesn’t hesitate: “When everyone else takes cover, we go out to save lives.” Yarin, who followed in his footsteps, adds: “I wanted to do something meaningful, together with him.”

Even after hours of work at the scene in Dimona, their night wasn’t over. They returned, and shortly after were dispatched again, this time to another impact site in Arad.

One night. Two difficult scenes. Two brothers driven by one mission.
Yakir and Yarin, we are proud of you!

Wishing all of Israel a happy and peaceful holiday💛
