My story

After the birth of my first daughter, I found myself completely depleted. We were living in the rain forest. I was very young and isolated and I remember sitting on my wooden rocking chair staring out into space sinking into a void of nothingness. A wise older women I met suggested I take the homeopathic remedy Sepia, made from the ink of the cuttlefish. I had never heard of homeopathy before but I was open enough to try anything other than anti-depressants. A few days after taking the remedy I felt something shift and then from nowhere, I was filled with a sense of gratitude and suddenly I had energy, I felt full. And so began my love of Classical Homeopathy.

Classical Homeopathy differentiates itself from commercial homeopathy where many remedies are combined. The Classical Homeopath is trained to fit the ‘picture’ of a single remedy to the ‘picture’ of the patient from a detailed consultation taking into account the patients physical, emotional and mental state as well as his or her energy levels, level of health, life style, support systems and habits. It is entirely holistic and it lends itself well to many conditions that tradditional medicine can only palliate.

I used Homeopathy to bring up my own family and I can name the times my five children have taken antibiotics or been to the doctor collectively on one hand. One of the problems of modern medicine is that we as a society have come to depend on quick fix solutions and we rarely give ourselves the time we need to heal. A painkiller works quicker than the time it takes to make a broth. But we are doing ourselves and our families a disservice by perpetuating the quick-fix model of health and wellbeing. Healing takes time.

The correct homeopathic remedy works to support the body’s vital life force or immune reponse, and some people can feel this effect immediately. But the re-action from a single remedy can last for months, as the body re-organises itself slowly bringing balance. As busy mothers and fathers, sometimes we need to allow ourselves and our children time to heal, before rushing back into the world. Homeopathy supports that healing journey.
