Heading back to school?
There are some of my top tips for packing lunchboxes that are nutritious AND more likely to be eaten by little ones!
1. Focus on food groups: Aim to include a protein, whole grains, fruits, and veggies.
2. Pair familiar with new: You don't want your kid to open the lunchbox and see nothing familiar in there. Make sure that you introduce new foods alongside ones you know your kids already love.
3. Get kids involved: Let them help with planning and packing to get them excited about what's in their lunchbox (and more likely to eat it).
4. Don't forget food safety: Use ice packs and insulated lunch bags to keep cold food cold.
5. Prep ahead of time: A little planning goes a long way to save you time during the week. Don't wait until the last minute to figure out lunch -- keep a list of favorites on your fridge and pack lunches the night before.
6. Choose whole foods over ultra-processed: Opt for whole foods instead of ultra-processed foods that are high in sugar and salt.
