Do NOT interrupt a woman during the middle of a contraction.

Pregnancy is a time of expansion.

The early postpartum days and weeks offer the gift of Vision.

You may see years into the future, or see your past with more clarity.

Patterns in yourself or your family may become obvious and it’s fairly common to see new mothers making big changes in the dynamics of their families and relationships.

It’s as if you’ve climbed a summit of your life (because you have) and can see in every direction with ease.

Have a pencil handy, you’ll want to write down what you see from on top of the mountain.

Regarding umedicated, physiological birth, well, there is good news, and bad news.
The bad news: you cannot be “saved”. You can have a midwife, you can have a doula, but it is you alone who must journey to another dimension, to claim your baby. This is spiritual work. We cannot come with you. ⚡️ The good news? You. don’t. need. saving. ⚡️ You see, over time we’ve capitulated to the idea that we shouldn’t need to feel the full extent of the birthing process. Or, that if things get too hard, we’re doing something wrong. We will agree, up front, to a certain amount of sensation, but beyond that it’s too much.
What if you knew up front that you were going to be thoroughly decimated? ⚡️ What if you understood: birth will bring you to your edge, and beyond that edge there is another edge, and then another, and another?
What if, you understood that up front, and gave the universe a handshake and a nod that you’re up for it. ⚡️ This is NOT about martyrdom. This IS about reframing most of what you’ve been led to believe about childbirth.
And what if it is not without divine purpose. ⚡️ It IS big, yes. It is ok to be overwhelmed, and even scared because HOLY S**T, NOTHING has prepared you for this (not even your previous births). It’s ok to not know what to do. And it is ok to do it anyway.
The sensations, and our thoughts that come up because of them, in no way mean anything is wrong.
Surrender.
Over and over, soften your muscles, rest between surges, and do it again. ⚡️ Holy s**t, y’all. We came to this earth, in these bodies, because WE ARE CAPABLE. We were given THE highest honor among humans.
And it is BECAUSE of this POWER and CAPACITY we have been convinced of the spin stories. ⚡️ You can curse, and sweat, and cry, and doubt yourself, even wish for a fu***ng epidural, and you can do. it. anyway.
You will emerge from the storm, a tiny boat on the vast ocean just after an epic storm, intact, forever changed, and weathered by the salt of your sweat and tears.
This. THIS is your .⚡️

THIS ❤️

I've been rocking and cuddling my baby to sleep since that day he was born. I mentioned this to a nurse at my clinic recently. She said that she did the same thing with her son, and everyone warned her that she would still have a teenager sleeping in her bed.

And then she told me that, a few weeks ago, her teenage son came home from school very upset. He didn't want to talk, and just went to his room and listened to his music, typed on his phone and cried.

The mother gave her son space, and night time came and she went to bed. Just as she was about to turn off her side light, the door opened, and her 15 year old padded into the room.

He climbed into the bed with her, laid his head on her shoulder and cried. He told her all about the girl that broke his heart, all about the friends who laughed, all about the stresses of being him. She told him about her first broken heart, about friends who'd been cruel, and told him she understands. They talked in the dark for hours, until he feel asleep in her bed. Still sad but relieved after their talk.

'So you see' she said to me, when she finished the story. 'I was so scared that I wound wind up with a teenager who would 'need me' at night, that I never stopped to consider how beautiful that would really be.' .

"All that matters is a healthy baby" is such a gaslighting phrase.

Your mental and emotional health matter so much. It's important to know you have the right to informed choices and consent to procedures.

It's also ok to grieve the birth you wanted, if it didn't happen.

Normalize women wanting to know their options and feeling upset after birth.
