KSM - Research and Innovation Kahn-Sagol-Maccabi (KSM) is the Research and Innovation Center of Maccabi Healthcare Services

Kahn-Sagol-Maccabi (KSM) is the Research and Innovation Center of Maccabi Healthcare Services, Israel’s leading HMO. KSM was founded in 2016 in cooperation with Morris Kahn and Sami Sagol and is led by Dr. Tal Patalon. We support researchers, med tech companies, startups, and other global healthcare stakeholders and ecosystem partners in their journey from ideation to implementation. We offer a global market startup launchpad; a data partnerships framework; full access to KSM’s know-how; IRB approval, and ultimately, potential solution implementation in HMO services. KSM ‘s assets include a cloud-based research platform integrating big data and AI technologies; the Tipa Biobank™, a 900K- sample repository (the largest of its kind in Israel); cutting-edge clinical research initiatives; and an award-winning epidemiological research team, all of which contribute to the advancement of innovative, global health solutions.

Even in challenging times, innovation doesn't stop.

​We are proud to share that KSM’s latest research was featured this week at the European Lung Cancer Congress (ELCC) 2026 in Copenhagen.

​Though the security situation in Israel kept our team at home, our breakthrough in AI-driven lung cancer detection stood front and center on the global stage. Our Machine Learning model achieved a 90.2% AUC, identifying high-risk individuals - including never-smokers - up to 6 months before clinical diagnosis.

​At KSM, our mission to save lives through data-driven innovation remains our constant, no matter the obstacles.

This past year has been remarkable: welcoming new team members, opening our dedicated Clinical Trials clinic, establishing the Bio-Convergence team, deepening global collaborations, expanding our biobank, and advancing groundbreaking research.
