"Breathing is the first act of life, and the last" - Joseph Pilates.
Living depends on the breath, by bringing air into and out of the lungs it provides oxygen and removes carbon dioxide from the body. But it also has so many more functions. It mobilises the ribs, the diaphragm, massages the internal organs and can be used as a relaxation tool.
Today a patient of mine told me that she'd taught the breathing techniques we had discussed with her pupils at the school she teaches at. It's nice to know that it's being passed forwards and hopefully enhancing the well being of the next generation 🌬️
