🌍 The Laboratory of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) at Ichilov, led by Prof. Dalit Ben-Yosef, has launched a groundbreaking digital solution - an app that manages the entire bank of frozen eggs and embryos.
The system allows patients to securely confirm storage and make decisions regarding their embryos through an encrypted SMS and digital signature.
All data is integrated with the patient’s medical file, ensuring transparency and safety.
This is the first project of its kind in Israel (and likely in the world) developed in collaboration with the hospital’s IT department and the IVF embryology team.

🩺 Professor Yaniv Varshavsky, orthopedic surgeon at Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov), shares how modern joint replacement surgeries help patients live free from pain again.
Hip or knee replacement surgery is performed when wear or injury causes pain and limited mobility. The damaged joint is replaced with an artificial implant, restoring movement and improving quality of life.
At Ichilov these surgeries are performed using robotic-assisted systems that ensure maximum precision and minimal tissue damage. Patients begin walking the very next day after surgery and full recovery takes just a few weeks.

👩‍⚕️ Breast cancer remains one of the most common oncological diagnoses among women, but modern technology now allows treatment to be much gentler. “We are living in an era when breast surgery is becoming increasingly precise and compassionate toward women,” says Dr. Yaniv Berger, Head of the Breast Health Center at Ichilov Hospital (Tel Aviv).
Half a century ago, the only available treatment was radical mastectomy - complete removal of the breast along with muscles and lymph nodes. Today, surgeries have become more conservative and targeted: surgeons preserve healthy tissue, remove only affected areas, and increasingly use minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques.
At Ichilov Israel’s first endoscopic mastectomy was performed - a procedure done through a hidden incision only about 3 centimeters long. This approach makes treatment precise and safe while maintaining the breast’s natural appearance.
This new era of surgery is focused not only on defeating the disease but also on preserving women’s quality of life, confidence and femininity.

🔬 At the Ichilov Medical Center in Tel Aviv doctors have successfully performed Israel’s first transplantation of mesenchymal stem cells in a child suffering from the rare congenital skin disorder epidermolysis bullosa.
The treatment became possible thanks to a breakthrough by the Institute for Advanced Cellular Therapy (I-ACT), which developed a GMP-certified method for producing therapeutic stem cells.
The procedure included a bone marrow transplant from a donor, followed by three treatments using stem cells derived from the same donor.
The therapy was led by Prof. Ronit Elhasid (Pediatric Hemato-Oncology, Dana-Dwek Children’s Hospital) and Dr. Liat Samuelov (Department of Dermatology).
This marks the first treatment of its kind not only in Israel, but also outside the United States.

🧬 New Service for Researchers: RNA-seq Analysis
The Genetic Research Laboratory, led by Prof. Hagit Baris-Feldman, has launched a new service - RNA-seq analysis, which enables precise measurement of gene expression in various biological samples (cell cultures, blood cells, and more).
This advanced method allows researchers to compare gene expression profiles under different conditions or treatments.
🔬 The service includes the entire testing process:
• an initial meeting to review the project and provide consultation if needed
• sample quality assessment
• library preparation
• sequencing on the cutting-edge NovaSeq X (Illumina) system
• basic bioinformatics analysis
Researchers can request either the full RNA-seq analysis or individual stages - from sample quality assessment to bioinformatic analysis.
Under the leadership of Dr. Hofit Gadot the laboratory team at Ichilov helps researchers implement complex projects and explore new frontiers in genetics.

🏥 A New Era of Laboratory Diagnostics at Ichilov
The biochemistry laboratories at Ichilov Medical Center have implemented an innovative system by Roche, enhancing test accuracy, accelerating result delivery, and improving patient care quality.
All biochemical tests are now performed on the new platform, except for troponin and BNP tests, which will be transferred to it in the coming days.
Dr. Hanoch Goldschmidt, Head of the Laboratory Division, and Dr. Ilana Goldiner, Head of the Biochemistry Laboratory, noted: “This is an important step in expanding the laboratory’s capabilities and improving the quality of medical service. 🩺 Prostate Cancer: A Treatment That Destroys Cancer from Within - at Ichilov Hospital

A specialized center for children and adolescents living with Sturge-Weber Syndrome (SWS) — a rare condition that can affect the skin, brain, eyes, and nervous system — has been opened at Dana-Dwek Children’s Hospital (Ichilov).
The clinic is led by Dr. Moran Hausman-Kedem and operates within the Pediatric Neurovascular Center at the Institute of Pediatric Neurology.
The new center at Dana-Dwek was established to bring all essential services under one roof, providing patients with comprehensive care during a single visit — including neurology, ophthalmology, dermatology, surgery, epilepsy care, physiotherapy, nutrition, and social work.
This multidisciplinary approach ensures integrated treatment, simplifies the patient journey, and significantly improves the quality of life for children and their families.

🎈 Birthday of a Little Champion
Yesterday, in the pediatric playroom of the Hemato-Oncology Department at Ichilov Hospital (Dana-Dwek Children’s Hospital), we celebrated the 9th birthday of a boy from Georgia who is undergoing treatment at our clinic.
The young birthday hero is a big fan of FC Barcelona, so for one day, the playroom turned into a true celebration: balloons in the team’s colors, favorite music, a cake, gifts, and lots of smiles. ⚽️🎂
The volunteer team and the staff of the International Medical Tourism Department did everything to make this day special — filled with warmth, joy, and support that mean so much during treatment.
At Ichilov Hospital, we believe that childhood should continue even during medical treatment. It is important to us that children feel not only the care of doctors but also love, attention, and human kindness. These moments give them strength to fight and inspire recovery.

Вчера в детской комнате гематоонкологического отделения больницы Ихилов (детской больницы «Дана-Дуэк») праздновали девятый день рождения мальчика из Грузии, который проходит лечение в нашей клинике.
Именинник является большим поклонником футбольного клуба Барселона, поэтому детская комната на один день превратилась в настоящий праздник: воздушные шары в клубных цветах, любимая музыка, торт, подарки и море улыбок. ⚽️🎂
Команда волонтёров и сотрудники отдела медицинского туризма сделали всё, чтобы этот день стал особенным: полным тепла, радости и поддержки, которые так важны во время лечения.
