So,the AI is still a toddler who is allowed to make mistakes, even if it amounts to spreading misinformation and it's culpability on death. But it can influence serious decisions on treatment rationality, where we often have to clarify 'AI doubts'. This incongruity is truly hilarious 😂

A 56-year-old man in Connecticut, who was battling long-standing mental health struggles, killed his 83-year-old mother before taking his own life after becoming deeply attached to OpenAI's chatbot, ChatGPT. Here is what happened.

It's said that Psychiatry is still in its infancy, as unlike it's sister specialities a Psychiatrist has to rely on his clinical acumen mostly. Even the medicines available for treatment can have variable effects and side effects on different individuals. So, that's why individually tailored therapy sessions are still important.

'Individualism' is an important part of Psychiatry. Again unlike it's peers this speciality draws inspiration from several non medical subjects like Sociology, Philosophy, Anthropology etc.

Alexis De Tocqueville a famous political commentator from the 19th century after whom the Tocqueville effect is named observed that while a society moves towards equality, individualism is suppressed which he termed as the 'tyranny of majority '.

Here lies the importance of Psychiatry where sometimes even conversing in a structured way can heal a person of his woes. In this age of rush and A.I where life is so fast paced and competitive to take a pause and reflect, Psychiatry offers a humane touch to Medical science.

Broken family:
• Parents have separated or divorced due to disharmony/family conflict/war/chronic illness/addiction etc
• Death has occurred of one or both parents and children become orphan
• Consequence: Separation from parents can have an negative impact on child development in physical, social and mental health as the family support is lost or partial. The children from the broken families sometimes have psychopathic behaviour, immature personality, retardation of growth, speech and intellect. They often become the victim of crime, prostitution and vagrancy.

It's Migraine and Headaches awareness month. Often it has been reported that pain killers or NSAIDS are sold from pharmacies as over the counter drugs for headaches. Apart from having its own side effects from overusage like gastric problems and effecting Kidney function, these medicines are not effective to prevent the headaches and gradually the medicines also show reduced response. The frequency and severity of headaches keep on increasing. There are several types of headaches out of which Migraine and Tension type headaches are most commonly encountered.

There are certain triggers which can cause headaches like dehydration, warm weather, bright lights and loud sounds, worries and stress.

If the frequency and severity of headaches keep on increasing even after avoiding the triggers prophylactic treatment (preventive) has to be considered.
