Carpal Tunnel Syndrome :-

Carpal tunnel syndrome affects the wrist and hand, causing pain, numbness, and tingling. It occurs when the median nerve which runs from the forearm to the hand becomes compressed or irritated as it passes through the carpal tunnel a narrow passageway in the wrist formed by bones and ligaments.

Cause of CTS :-

- Causes are Repetitive hand and wrist movements such as typing, using a computer mouse

- Certain medical conditions, such as diabetes, arthritis, thyroid dysfunction, hormonal changes during pregnancy.

Symptoms of CTS

- Symptoms are generally Pain, discomfort in the wrist, hand, forearm

- Numbness and tingling, weakness and decreased grip strength.

-Patient experience weakness in the hand and a decrease in grip strength, making it challenging to perform everyday tasks.

Treatment of CTS :-

Physio assess the condition and customize the treatment protocol accordingly.

The treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome may involve Specific exercises can be prescribed to stretch the muscles and tendons in the hand and wrist, as well as strengthen the surrounding muscles to improve support.

- Manual therapy

- Mobilization or soft tissue massage

- Laser, ultrasound

- Dry Needling

- Kinesio tapping

Tennis elbow:-

Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) is not limited to tennis players and can affect anyone who engages in repetitive arm and wrist movements.

Cause of tennis elbow:-

- Repetitive motion or overuse of the forearm muscles and tendons.
- Some common activities that can lead to tennis elbow include playing tennis (especially with improper technique)
- excessive typing or computer use, repetitive lifting or gripping, painting, carpentry and other activities that involve repetitive forearm movements.

Symptom of tennis elbow :-

- pain and tenderness on the outer side of the elbow.

- The pain may radiate down the forearm and worsen with activities that involve gripping, lifting, or twisting motions

- Difficulty in gripping objects, Stiffness
- Pain during wrist movements, Tenderness

For tennis elbow the physiotherapy treatment protocol would be Rest and activity modification

Treatment:-

-Ultrasound therapy

- laser therapy

- Ice therapy for 10-15 minutes several times a day

- Strengthening exercise, stretching exercises, joint mobilization, and soft tissue manipulation .

- Cupping and needling Therapy

Tailbone pain or coccydynia :-

It can occur due to Injury to the tailbone, such as a fall or direct blow.

cause of coccydynia :-
- Prolonged sitting
- During delivery
-The coccyx can get displaced or injured
- wear and tear of the coccyx, leading to pain.

symptoms :-
-Pain in or around the tailbone
- which may worsen with sitting or during specific movements
-Discomfort while sitting
- Bruising or swelling. But no worries
Investigation:-
- X-ray and MRI

Treatment :-
- Use Enzoflam tablet twice a day
- Will be heat or ice therapy

- Ultrasound, or electrical stimulation can help alleviate pain

- Manipulation and mobilization techniques can relieve tension and restore proper alignment

- Postural education and guidance of cushion and pillow to sit on

- Dry Needling

- Cupping therapy

- MET technique
