Fever Alert
Key Symptoms (3-14 days after mosquito bite)
High fever (40°C/104°F) with sudden onset
Severe headache, especially behind the eyes
Muscle and joint pain
Fatigue and weakness
Nausea and vomiting
Skin rash
Mild bleeding (nose, gums)
Warning Signs
Severe abdominal pain
Persistent vomiting
Rapid breathing
Blood in vomit or stool
Fatigue and restlessness
What Dengue can cause?
Dengue Fever (DF): Most common form
Severe bleeding, plasma leakage
Life-threatening drop in blood pressure
Affects multiple organs (brain, liver, heart, kidneys)
-Dengue Syndrome: Persistent fatigue, depression after recovery
Important: Previous dengue infection may increase the risk of severe disease.
Prevention Strategies
1. Eliminate mosquito breeding sites:
- Remove standing water from containers weekly
- Cover water storage containers tightly
2. Protect yourself from mosquito bites:
- Use mosquito repellents
- Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants
- No specific antiviral treatment exists
- Seek medical attention immediately if symptoms appear
- Rest and stay hydrated
- Take acetaminophen/paracetamol for fever and pain (avoid aspirin and NSAIDs)
If you experience any dengue symptoms, especially high fever persisting for more than two days, severe abdominal pain, or persistent vomiting, contact immediately:
