💅 Thinking of Getting Your Nails Done Before Delivery? Read This First! 🤰
When you’re preparing for your big day, you want to look and feel your best. But while those fresh extensions or that perfect gel polish look great in photos, they can actually pose a challenge in the delivery room! 🏥
At Sarvodaya Medicare Hospital, we want your delivery to be as smooth and safe as possible. Here’s why we recommend skipping the nail extensions and dark polish before you head to the hospital:
1️⃣ Accurate Oxygen Monitoring 🩺
During delivery, doctors use a Pulse Oximeter (the little clip on your finger) to monitor your oxygen levels.
The Science: The machine uses light beams to "read" your blood through the nail bed.
The Issue: Thick artificial nails or dark/opaque nail polish can block these light beams, leading to inaccurate readings or no reading at all.
2️⃣ Monitoring Natural Health Signs 🔍
Your natural nail beds are a quick indicator of your circulation. If your oxygen levels drop or blood flow changes, doctors can often tell by looking at the color of your natural nails. Polish hides these vital signs.
3️⃣ Hygiene & Infection Control 🧼
Long extensions can accidentally trap dirt and bacteria underneath them. To minimize the risk of infection for both you and your newborn, short, clean, and natural nails are the safest choice.
Pro Tip: Save your nail appointment for a "post-delivery" treat once you're back home and settled! 💖
Stay safe, stay informed!
