A Story of Courage and Unconditional Love
This is the journey of a fragile 1.5-year-old angel from Tanzania, who arrived with a diagnosis of liver cirrhosis due to Extrahepatic Biliary Atresia. Her only hope: a liver transplant.
Her father, moved by love and desperation, underwent a dramatic physical transformationâlosing 11 kg in a short span to become fit as a living liver donor. A part of his liver was transplanted into his daughter in a challenging surgery. But fate was unkindâshe developed Primary Non-Function (PNF) of the graft, a rare and devastating complication.
As hope dimmed, her mother stepped forward. Despite having a different blood group, she courageously offered herself as a donor. An ABO-incompatible liver retransplantation was the only path to saving the childâs lifeâa monumental challenge for such a young and fragile baby.
Yet love prevailed. With the unwavering support of our transplant team and the unmatched sacrifice of both parents, the second transplant succeeded. The baby fought bravely and recovered.
This photo and video captures her a day before returning home to Tanzaniaâalive, smiling, and full of promise. A miracle made possible by two parents whose love knew no bounds.
