Being a Cancer Specialist Surgeon does not only mean that we just operate in the operation theater and work in hospital to treat the cancer patients.

With the collaboration with Volkswagen-Ahmedabad, today we went out in the city- my beautiful smart city Ahmedabad- for a good cause... to create awareness about the cancer. Its very cruicial to the myths surrounding the treatment of cancer. Its vital in this time that we educate people about treatment options in Cancer and to make them realise that cancer is curable. Its not and end of life... just a small chapter of your precious life.

A cancer specialist's responsibility towards the community also includes:

1. Educating on cancer awareness and prevention
2. Providing access to screening and early detection
3. Offering emotional support and resources
4. Advocating for cancer policies and research
5. Reaching underserved populations through community outreach.

GIST - gastrointestinal stromal tumor are different than the tumors usually seen in gastro intestinal tract. They respond best to Surgery and Targeted therapy Imatinib.

This patient presented with abdominal pain and vomiting. Tumor was lying at the junction of Duodenum and Jejunum.

It was successfully removed laparoscopically and patient was discharged on 5th postop day uneventfully.. he was very Happy with the recovery...
