This monsoon, illnesses spike—not just fevers. Kerala has logged 1,494 leptospirosis cases and 88 deaths (till July 22, 2025)—often after people wade through floodwater.

In Ahmedabad, early May saw 5 cholera cases in 3 days and 1,281 typhoid cases since Jan 2025, tied to contaminated supplies.

Globally, WHO confirms the cholera emergency is ongoing in July 2025, so India cannot drop its guard.

Protect yourself:

✅ Drink boiled/filtered water; skip cut fruits/street ice.
✅ Post-flood: don’t wade barefoot; cover cuts; wash legs/feet well.
✅ Persistent watery diarrhoea or dehydration → start ORS and seek care fast.
✅ High fever + muscle/calves pain after water exposure? Test for leptospirosis early.
