Dr. mrinalendu das of rn tagore hospital, kolkata, touched hearts across mizoram by making sure six-year-old cicilya laltleipuii received life-saving heart surgery, even when her family couldn’t afford it ❤️🏥.

Cicilya, the eldest of three from the remote village of dilzawl, grew up in deep poverty without electricity. she suffered seizures from a young age, and in 2018 doctors found a hole in her heart. her family couldn’t pay for treatment outside mizoram until the zo inspiration foundation, a local charity, stepped in to fundraise.

In jan 2025, she had her first surgery at rn tagore hospital. but by may, her health worsened, and doctors said she had only two months to live without another operation. rushed back to kolkata, she underwent her second surgery on july 21, 2025.

The total medical cost was nearly ₹13 lakh. donations covered ₹6.25 lakh, and dr. das along with the hospital waived the remaining ₹7,24,892. cicilya was discharged on july 30 and returned to her village — reachable only by boat during the monsoon 🚤💙.

the study showed melittin acts like a guided missile, targeting the most dangerous breast cancer types. when they tried bumblebee venom (which lacks melittin), there was no effect, proving melittin is the crucial cancer-fighting ingredient.
