तनोट माता भारत के पश्चिमी राज्य राजस्थान के जैसलमेर जिले में स्थित एक मंदिर है ।

मंदिर का निर्माण किया गया था और शासन करने वाले देवता की मूर्ति को भाटी राजपूत राजा तनु राव ने 828 ईस्वी में स्थापित किया था। [3] तब से, मंदिर को भाटी राजपूतों और जैसलमेर के लोगों द्वारा पीढ़ियों से सम्मानित और पूजा जाता रहा है। [4]

1965 के भारत-पाकिस्तान युद्ध के दौरान पाकिस्तानी सेना द्वारा तनोट पर हमला किया गया था, जिसके दौरान मंदिर की ओर 3,000 बम दागे गए थे। हालांकि, स्थानीय विद्या के अनुसार, बम या तो अपने लक्ष्य से चूक गए या उनमें विस्फोट नहीं हुआ। [5] 1965 के युद्ध के बाद, भारत के सीमा सुरक्षा बल (बीएसएफ) ने मंदिर और प्रबंधन और रखरखाव की जिम्मेदारी संभाली। [6]

1971 के भारत-पाकिस्तान युद्ध के दौरान तनोट पर फिर से हमला किया गया था , लेकिन इस बार हमलावर टैंक रेत में फंस गए, जिससे भारतीय वायु सेना उन्हें नष्ट कर सकी। [4] [5] 1971 के युद्ध के बाद, भारतीय सेना ने लोंगेवाला की लड़ाई में जीत के उपलक्ष्य में मंदिर परिसर के अंदर एक विजय स्तम्भ (विजय टॉवर) का निर्माण किया
