COPCORD (Community Oriented Program for Control Of Rheumatic Diseases)

Awareness regarding rheumatic diseases is very sparse, specially in developing countries like ours. People are yet not aware regarding Rheumatology as a sub speciality of medicine and Rheumatic illnesses.

1 in every 5 women in India suffers from Arthritis related pain. More than 42 lacs women suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis and more than 5 crores people from Osteoarthritis in India. It's much more common in our society than other non communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension, yet we have no policies regarding same.

The Rheumatology Association Gujarat (RAG) in association with IIPH institute, Gandhinagar and Center for Rheumatic Diseases Pune, is going to conduct a survey of prevalence of Rheumatic diseases in community.
Dr Hardik along with Dr Sapan Pandya, Dr Reena sharma and Dr Dhaivat Shukla under guidance of Dr Arvind Chopra ( Pioneer of Indian COPCORD, and co ordinator of India in Global COPCORD studies) will be doing the project.
