Present scenario of heart diseases universally-a bird's eye view
Cardio vascular disease accounts for approximately 12 million deaths annually and is the commonest cause of death globally.
Previously considered a disease of affluent,in past three decades, there is considerable decline in incidence of coronary heart disease in western world.
Where as it is assuming epidemic proportion in asian Indian's,whether living in India or elsewhere.
While the incidence of coronary heart disease has reduced by 50% in the west,in India,it has doubled in last 25 years.
in 1960 the prevalence rate was 2%,in 2000 it was 15%.
The decline in death rates in united states due to coronary heart disease reflects identification & reduction of risk factors as well as
improved treatments & interventions for the management of coronary heart disease,heart rate irregularities & heart failure.
Nonetheless heart diseases remain most common causes of death responsible for 35% of all deaths almost one million deaths each year.
Let us put our best efforts towards awareness,identification of potential & suffering patients to make them healthy and useful members of society.
