Shyam Oncology Foundation Shyam Oncology Foundation is a registered charitable foundation dedicated to work in cancer and hereditary childhood blood disorders like Thalassemia

Core Activities: Over 800,000 new cancer patients are diagnosed every year in India. Over 500,000 patients die every year from cancer. Number of deaths from cancer is more than combined death rate of Malaria, Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS. Majority of cancers are diagnosed late. Majority of patients are unable to undergo standard treatment (lack of awareness, lack of nearby treatment facilities, inability to pay for treatment). Most poor patients and many with resources as well, die with months of suffering beyond imagination. This “suffering” is also the main concern in patient’s mind when diagnosed with cancer. “suffering” is at several levels, not just physical pain. Blood diseases like Thalassemia, are rampant in India. About 10,000 children are born each year with thalassemia major. These children need blood transfusion every two to four weeks for rest of their life, with other medicines. They mostly die before age 40, and in poor families they die mostly before age 20. It is expensive to treat and is a silent suffering for whole family, not just the child. And, this disease is almost 100% preventable, as well as curable in few children.

13 years Anniversary of KARUNALAY* Cancer Palliative Care Center, run by Shyam Oncology Foundation. Providing care in advance stages of cancer. 💐

Almost two years in the newly constructed building, with much larger number of admissions, and a larger team. Our philosophy of “Adding Life to Years” and Caring approach of our team remain the same. All services continue to remain free for all patients, including Home care, Outpatient care, and Inpatient care (in the new 15 bed unit).

Thanks to our generous donors for their unwavering support. Including CSR donors. And so many members of society at large for creating awareness, supporting and guiding us in so many ways. Their support has helped us to grow and reach out to more and more people, most notably Home Care services started about three years ago.

We are especially thankful to trustees of J S Hospital/Thakershy Charitable Trust, for their encouragement and support throughout this journey.

💐માનવ જ્યોત, મુંબઈ અને હેલ્થ એન્ડ કેર ફાઉન્ડેશન, અમદાવાદ દ્વારા 16મી જૂનના રોજ એવોર્ડ ફંક્શનનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું. ચાલીસના સમૂહમાંથી સાત લોકોની પસંદગી કરવામાં આવી હતી. 🌼શ્યામ ઓન્કોલોજી ફાઉન્ડેશનના મેનેજિંગ ટ્રસ્ટી સોનલ શાહને સેવા સજ્જન એવોર્ડ મળ્યો હતો.🌼 આ સમારોહમાં મુખ્ય મહેમાન જાણીતા ફિલોસોફર અને લેખક આદરણીય જ્યોતિબેન થાન્કી હતા. વિશેષ અતિથિઓ શ્રી પી કે લહેરી (ગુજરાત રાજ્યના ભૂતપૂર્વ મુખ્ય સચિવ), શ્રી અજય ઉમત (નવગુજરાત સમયના મુખ્ય સંપાદક) હતા.

💐Manav Jyot, Mumbai and Health and Care Foundation, Ahmedabad organized an award function on 16th June. Seven people were chosen from a group of forty. 🌼Sonal Shah, managing trustee of Shyam Oncology Foundation received Sewa Sajjan Award.🌼 Chief guest at the function was noted philosopher and writer Respected Jyotiben Thanki. Special guests were Shree P K Laheri (ex Chief Secretary Gujarat State), Shree Ajay Umat (chief editor Navgujarat Samay).
