Modern medicine has one more curse for mankind. That is the saga of screening the apparently healthy in society for any sign of future disease to be corrected early. Ayurveda leaves the well alone and tries to help them to remain well as long as possible with the help of immune boosters and a system called Panchakarma- a natural method to help the body get rid of accumulated toxins and postpone ageing. Screening is one of the dangerous procedures. No one gets any benefit in the long run, as linear relations do not hold good as time evolves in any dynamic system. That apart the very idea of the “normal” is faulty. Normal is the mean +- 2SD from the mean value of the Gaussian distribution. Simply put, this amounts to 5% of healthy people falling into the abnormal range in any study. If a study like total body scanning were done on the population it would throw up thousands of values in the abnormal range creating truckloads of anxiety for those thousands.

Cholesterol Ghost Everywhere

Future prediction, using linear mathematics, as we do now in medicine is only a part time job, as the rest of the time you will have to try and keep your foot out of your mouth.

Cholesterol should be checked only if there are sound clinical indications.

* A mixed diet low in calories and saturated fat should be recommended along with some physical exercise.

* It is irresponsible to force public into a costly cholesterol reducing programme without firm scientific evidence.

* Do not rely on one reading of the fat profile, check at least five to six times from different laboratories, if the original result was high.

* Indian vegetarian diet without much fried foods and other saturated fats and low salt is the ideal one for most people.

* Avoiding alcohol and to***co is as important if not more important than worrying about cholesterol.

* Recent studies show the mind and its effects on the heart as more important risk factors than all the above mentioned ones. Keep your mind at peace. Hostility and depression are real culprits for heart attacks.

Phoenixin was previously unknown to scientists
Rockville, Md. (June 4, 2020)—A newly discovered hormone called phoenixin could play a major role in adjusting a person’s level of thirst to the body’s needs. The discovery of the hormone, which is made in the human body, bolsters scientific data showing that the amount of daily hydration is just as critical as how much food we eat. Phoenixin appears to control changes in thirst and other hormones that regulate body fluid balance that occur with aging, according to a recently published paper in the American Journal of Physiology-Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology.

Mechanistic biomedical model based on classical physics is the basis of our current understanding of human system. Real world, however, is non-classical as predicted by Quantum Physics, which in a nutshell says everything in the universe is interrelated and a change in one part of the system will be reflected in the other
parts as well. This quantum worldview is entirely consistent with the vedic concept of „innate unity‟ and mutual interrelationship of everything in the universe. Ayurveda, which has its roots in vedas, has integrated this concept of interconnectedness into its understanding of health and disease. It considers human body as an indivisible whole with a network of interrelated functions, mind
and consciousness wherein a disturbance in one part will have repercussions in other parts as well. Disease is seen as a perturbation in this network. The key to health is for these factors to maintain the stability of the network, not only within the system but without as well.

We are all familiar with the principle of "early to bed." The reason behind is that is when the sun sets , there is solar energy that is retained in the earth's atmosphere, but only until midnight. Any sleep we experience while this residual solar energy is still in the atmosphere is most nourishing, restorative, and rejuvenating, contributing to health and longevity in a powerful way. So the more sleep before midnight, the more beneficial the sleep.
We know 10:00 PM marks the start of Pitta Kala, During this time, if we are in bed sleeping, as is the ideal routine in accord with Natural Law, heat is generated in the body that burns up ama, or any toxins that may have accumulated during the day. It's a daily, internal, metabolic housecleaning that takes place in the body. Sleep comes easier before Pitta Kala during the Kapha Kala, whose qualities are heaviness, dullness, and slowness — all qualities conducive to easily falling asleep. If we sleep later during Pitta Kala, it's a more stimulating time in Natural Law, making it more difficult to fall asleep. We get hungry for a midnight snack when we're up too late during Pitta time, and if we eat, we miss out on our daily metabolic housecleaning.

In Ayurveda, there is a concept – ama – that is a metaphor for toxins. It is a kind of “sludge” that accumulates in the body when foods do not completely digest, or we fail to cleanse routinely. ... This rotten food is a poison to your whole system because it contains endotoxins. Ama clogs the channels of the body, preventing nutrients from being delivered efficiently to the cells and preventing wastes from being discharged efficiently from the body.
To find out how much ama your body has, complete the following test. Circle your response (1 = least; 5 = most)

I tend to feel blocked in my body (constipated, congested in the head, general lack of clarity, or other).

In the morning when I wake up, I'm groggy; it takes me quite a while to feel really awake.

I tend to feel weak, physically, for no reason that I can see.

I get colds (or similar conditions) several times each year.
