While the surgery itself might take 1 to 1.5 hours, the entire process typically spans 2.5 to 3 hours. This duration can be divided into three key phases:
1. Pre-Operative Preparation
Anesthesia: Administering anesthesia and pre-anesthetic medications.
Site Preparation: Cleaning and prepping the surgical area (shoulder, hip, knee, etc.) to prevent infection.
Equipment Setup: Organizing and calibrating all necessary surgical instruments.
2. The Surgery
This is the actual procedure performed by the surgical team.
3. Post-Operative Recovery
Immediate Care: Dressing the surgical site and monitoring vitals.
Observation: Checking for any neurovascular deficits (e.g., blood flow and nerve function).
Recovery Room: Shifting the patient to a recovery area until they are stable and ready to return to their room.
